I hope our backup is Rittich, the more I think about it.

My reasoning is... if Smith gets hurt and/or Rittich can't manage to win, there are 2 guys with steady work in the AHL (Gillies and Parsons, who are both solid prospects) who should be able to come up and surprise.

If we sign a veteran goalie, then it's his job and there's no chance that even with a Smith injury that the kids get a shot at the starter's spot.

I have no real opinion, but I've understood that McBackup had a pretty decent season, and he seems to have carved himself an okay career doing his backup thing.

Would be a surprise comeback for sure

He's an RFA as of Saturday. The Flames control his NHL rights for 3 more years.

Interesting if true. I thought Buffalo was set for goaltending but maybe Nilsson doesn't want to re-sign. Also, they must really love Johnson.

Gulutzan was in Vancouver when Lack was there....Carolina needs to rid themselves of a goalie as they have 3 on one way contracts right now.

I predict a Bouma or Stajan to Carolina trade for Eddie Lack.

Enroth is not good and Condon is just an okay. He played well while with Montreal. I would rather see David Riitich in a vackup position. I think it is time to give our prospect a chance in the NHL; otherwise we might lose some of them for nothing. Riitich is over 25 years old. Yes he is unknown and only played one season in North America. I never heard of Louis Dominguez until last season when he played while Mike Smith was injured.
