Funny how many people were scorning those who wanted to see it happen.
Doesn't look like it would've been so bad now, eh? Arguably the best forward for the Kings since the deadline. Certainly been more impactful than anybody in the Flames' bottom 6 in that time. It's too bad.
Linden handshake would not happen though as it's far from a sure thing that he isn't back next season. Doubt he's even really contemplated it yet.

He's done more than I expected for sure. But he hasn't had top play bottom 6 in LA. Minutes = points. Would he be better than Brouwer or Bouma? Sure, and I was wrong about that. Would he have racked up points on the bottom 6? Not so sure.

IDK as well as he has played the Kings are no better off, its not like he made the difference
and he hasn't been playing in their bottom six so its hard to say what he would have done in that role

Who said anything about Iginla wanting to come back to Calgary? As far as we all know...he wouldn't have accepted a trade to Calgary.
Lots of unknown variables for sure.

This is true, however, I also think the Kings were the only team interested in his services at the time. I'm not so sure Calgary ever wanted him back. Another poster also stated he went to some luncheon where Burke was asked why the Flames didn't trade for Iginla and Burke allegedly stated "player didn't want to be here" or something along those lines.
That said, I still wish for him to return perhaps at the end of next season, even for a handful of games after the deadline. He deserves to retire a Flame, by actually playing some games with the jersey on, not a BS one day contract.

I thought Iggy could help us this year. And good point, perhaps we were not on his list.
As far as the future goes, the more years that pass the less I would want to see him in a Flames uniform for posterity. Been what, four already?

Unfortunately Gilles won't get a shutout mostly due to Wideman being on the ice.

GTD Flames vs. Kings
If the Flames win both remaining games it is mathematically impossible to face the Hawks. Since I'd rather play the Ducks (or Oilers) I hope the boys can pull this one out tonight.

I'm travelling and can't watch, so bummed. IMO debut games for the young guys are always a highlight.
I predict Gillies starts tonight and posts 378 consecutive shut outs.

Meaningless game on SN360 with an 8:30 start time. Would probably be the first game all year I'd skip watching but I really want to see Gillies play so I'll suck it up.

Not sure if this is that meaningless to be honest. Blues and Preds will most likely win tonight (are winning).
If we want to play Chicago in the first round then yeah we can just go through the motions. But the thought of that doesn't really inspire me with much confidence quite frankly. We need to win.

I'd be somewhat concerned, regardless if the circumstances are influencing player decisions, if we entered the playoffs on a four game losing streak.

Can we leave Brouwer in LA after the game and secretly take Iginla with us to the playoffs?

Wish the game was on SNW - as I have HD for that channel. I don't have HD for SN360 - why do the Oilers always get SNW?? - damn you SN!

The Flames always have to take a back seat to league's golden boys.
