I'm glad a couple of other people noticed that. It was a horrible rebound to let out, he should have caught it and killed the play.

The play by Bartkowski that stood out for me was that bone headed slap shot around the boards that was easily picked off by Getzlaf and lead to their third goal. He hustled back and recovered really well on the fourth goal.

All in all, I thought the Ducks badly outplayed the Flames and had a pile of grade A opportunities. The Flames need to stop turning the puck over and need to get the bloody puck out of the zone when they get the chance.

Odds are Nashville passes us, though only because of their soft schedule remaining and our much tougher schedule.

I get that there was a huge winning streak right after he was acquired, and that he looked serviceable, but that shine has long worn off. This guy should be nowhere near the Flames next season.
Meh, you get way too emotionally invested in fringe players, both the highs and lows. Bart's serviceable as a bottom pairing guy, even strong on a lot of nights. If our forwards aren't going to play 200 foot hockey then pretty much any bottom pairing D-man we put there is going to look bad.

I think that whatever matchup the Flames draw in the playoffs will be very tough. After the big winning streak fan expectations have risen accordingly but I think tonight's game is a dose of reality.

Not to say the Flames can't win a series--they can, but it will take a lot, and as a fan I am re-calibrating my expectations. Making the Playoffs is a successful season in itself for this team, no matter what happens when they get there.

At the top level it is a game of inches. I'm glad we can get to watch it at this time of year even if this one tastes like ashes in my mouth...

Ya, I said I in the game thread that we shouldn't be surprised by his constant gafs. He's done this his entire career and it's why he's never stuck with a team. Great skater, turnover machine. Time for Rasmus

Bartkowski should not be deep in the offensive zone with less than 4 minutes in the game.

Gaudreau and Monahan need to grow a pair.

I'm not. It was a great game. Unfortunately the Flames are just cursed when it comes to playing the Ducks. If that game makes it to OT, I'm convinced the Flames win it.

i hope the latest round of game-costing unforced errors by bartkowski means that he finally comes out of the line-up, but something tells me we will dress the same guys on tuesday.

the results are indisputable. bartkowski is horrible even by the eye test. he plays at about the same level every game but looked worse tonight because the whole team played poorly and his continuous mistakes and give-aways cost us more than usual

People are always saying this and I really don't get it at all. I'm emotionally invested in the play of all the players. Why should one player merit less of my attention simply because he's defined by others as a 'fringe player'?

Matt Bartkowski is in the NHL, playing on a playoff team. He's a perfectly valid target of criticism. But people keep calling me out for being "invested in fringe players", even though that isn't true... I'm also very invested in the play of Gaudreau and Monahan and Brodie and Hamilton and all of the stars of this team.

Why should you be able to tell me who I'm allowed to talk about on this forum?

The expectations from some people on a 6/7 D that couldn't even secure an NHL contract for most of the season is insane.

Bart was what he was. Wideman, Joki, whoever. People react the exact same no matter who sits at #6.

Great... even good NHL defencemen... do NOT play in a 6/7 role. Lower those expectations a notch.

Exactly, someone needs to tell him that his job is to not give up odd man breaks. We don't need offense from him and he shouldn't be making risky plays because those have been his downfall his entire career. His risky plays rarely work because he lacks the passing/shooting ability to pull anything off most of the time. There's a reason why he's a turnover/mistake machine

Frustrating way to lose for sure as the Flames really rallied to salvage a point.

Oh well!

Still games to play and points to accrue. Time to end the Honda Centre Curse.
