Chiasson is playing good and he is getting rewarded with filling in on the top line. Play good and get get rewarded - shades of always earned never given so I don't mind that at all.

If Chiasson has to play on the top line for one game then so be it. Gulutzan is probably rewarding him for his play the last few games.

From the lineup, it looks like Lazar and Bouma would be playing their off wings, no? Is that an attempt to boost offense on that line by making both wingers have an inside shot?

Chaisson is playing well because he is finally being put into a situation that he can excel in. Limited 4th line minutes playing the oppositions worst defensive pairing and usually the oppositions 4th line. He is not a stop gap top line player, he doesn't think the game at a high level to be out there with Johnny or Monahan, against the number 1 D pairing or the other teams checking line or top line.

Does that mean he can't play well tonight? No, but I still think its a terrible idea and putting Versteeg or even Lazar is a much better idea.

I'm a big fan of playing Bennett at centre for his long term development. But as a short term situation if Ferland is ill, I'd love to see them try Bennett on the wing with Johnny and Mony. My understanding is Lazar can play some centre??

If so, I'd like to see:

Gadreau - Monahan - Bennett
Frolik - Backlind - Tkachuk
Versteeg - Stajan - Brouwer
Bouma - Lazar / Hamilton - Chaisson

Also, I believe we see an Iggy scrap tonight, initiated by Iggy. Opponent will be one of:
- Giordano
- Brouwer
- Tkachuk

I sure get the feeling that Giordano and Iginla don't like each other much ... they'll come close at very least.

Missing out on a 2004 run where we were 1 goal away from winning the Stanley Cup? Yeah, it'd suck to have missed that actually as that has given me a lifetime of memories.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Lazar mix it up with someone too - maybe not Iggy, but someone on the Kings.

Also looking forward to another " down goes Brown" moment, courtesy of Gio!

The first two I can see, but I don't see Iggy trying to throw down with Tkachuk.

Ferland is out for sure now. He's under observation for mumps.

This is a big game for the Flames, but it is absolutely huge for the Kings.

They are sitting at 18.2% on sportsclubstats for their playoff chances. If they win in regulation their odds go up to 27.3%, if they lose, 10.7%.

Go Flames Go! Not even close to being a must win but a win would make me 99% confident of a playoff spot.

I'll be at this one tonight. Which generally means a flames win.

Honestly, I think the flames will win tonight handidly. 3-1 or 4-2 or something. Kings will be deflated and lose again tomorrow and then we can essentially stick a fork in them.

Not great news - Flames don't need mumps circulating in the room at this time of year. Hopefully it's not that.

Yes, but I'll be there too, which usually means a loss.
