I'm not worried at all, we are on a 9 game winning streak. Pens will be hard to beat but if we do our streak is that much more impressive. Would like to see a big game from the Bennett line tonight. Pens looked to be struggling with a heavy forecheck because of their injuries on D, need to suffocate them in their own end.

This is a great test to see if we're pretenders or contenders. I've circled this game and then the two with Anaheim late in the season.

To be fair, they're there, just not together in a positive light.
I.e. Good God. Is the Oiler defense ever terrible.
Or,
It sure would be nice to have good defense.

How do you figure? There have been moments of play in games here and there where the Flames have let up, but then there have been their most recent home games against NYI, the Canadiens where they blew them out of the building.

Win or lose, I hope we see a competitive game tonight. Let's keep the shot count close and not get hemmed in our zone for long stretches. This is a great test to see how much the team really has improved.

Can our possible-Selke-candidate Mikael Backlund shutdown Sidney Crosby? That will be the match up that dictates the game. Backs will have help if Crosby also sees a lot of Tkachuk and Gio-Hamilton.
Last time, Crosby was held to 1 assist and was -1.
PIT just came off wins in WPG, EDM and VAN, and are finishing up the last game of a road-trip. Hopefully they're (PIT) looking ahead to their return home and are due for a loss tonight.
Go Flames Go.

Every win streak has games where you play down to your opponents but still eke out a win. Take the Red Wings game. This streak has certainly had a few close ones until most recently.
It would be fun to see both teams at their very best tonight.

tells you absolutely nothing in contender/pretender discussion. after couple of losses this would tell you something. now its just hot team statistically very likely to lose

We've already beat them once. Even if we lose, it doesn't mean we are pretenders.

Flames getting their fair share of love on HF Penguins.

The Flames are not "just a hot team." They are a very good team that is on a hot streak. The huge difference here being that even when the streak does end we should expect them to continue to play good hockey.

Of course, that is true. But would you characterize the streak according to the Flames' play in these games? I wouldn't.

Feels good to know that the Flames are the best team they'll face on this entire road trip. Pens are likely looking at this game as a tough match up. I doubt they're looking past it.
