That definitely doesn't apply to all western teams though. But the top western teams (of the past few years at least) would execute the shut down, grind it out style well.

Thing is that style of hockey is more effective come playoffs. Run and gun is fun to watch but also sloppy and truly good teams will embarrass teams that try to play that way all the time.

Yeah for sure. But I enjoy watching a team trade chances more than clog the neutral zone.

Zaitsev has been pretty dece IMO for Toronto. Steady when I've seen him, nice offensive touch too. Still a few bobbles, not perfect, but I'd say 2-3Dman

(closet TO fan, Zaitsev in fantasy, watch some games but I'm not an expert by any means)

As do I.

Every so often you need those wide open games where not every play is broken up between the blue lines and teams don't end shifts by just dumping it in because they can't do anything else.

Games against the Devils as well as the Wild and Yotes of the past 5-10 years were dreaded by most fans for good reason. It may be effective hockey, but painful from a fan's perspective.

He's been pretty solid. Doesn't put up many points but usually good with the exit pass. He's a good second pairing defenceman I'd say. I would think they will re-sign him. I guess he put up a lot of points in the KHL but I've never seen any signs of him being any good offensively.

Oh, Iggy. Too bad the Sharks weren't interested.

Man the Sharks could've easily sheltered him and made use of him on the PP.

It is a shame. Kings look like a shell of their former selves. Trying to execute the same type of game, but they've all lost a step since their cup days. LA can only hope that St Louis continues to struggle while they try to find their goal scoring again..

The one time we cheer for your team and you still go out and say things like this

It's a lucky goal, went off Leafs defenseman's head... Kings still going to struggle to get any sort of offense going.
