Yeah, he looks like a 2nd/3rd pair tweener from what I can glean from the numbers too. Time will tell.

Stone was picked 9 spots before bouma in the 2008 NHL draft.
Makes 4 million now as a pending Ufa.

really solid trade for that price. Could be a great fit on the 3rd pairing, maybe 2nd.

So, he's Kris Russell 2.0?

honestly, to me he looks more like a right handed, defensive-minded Joe Colborne.

Stone was Arizona's worst regular D-man in both creating CF/60 and suppressing CA/60. #Flames

Anyone have a head-to-head advanced stats comparison for Stone vs Wideman.

Why is everyone so worried about the expansion draft. Even if Vegas takes him???...we effectively traded a 3rd round pick to Vegas to not take anyone else off our team. That is great asset management!

Stone Meh. A 3rd round pick is steep should have been a 5th.

Stone controls his own destiny as well, he doesn't have a contract going into next season - so we doesn't even count as an exposed defenceman, UNLESS he signs with Vegas during their early access to the free agent pool.

His wife is from here, and they just had twins. It's a great move for his family. Hoping it translates to the ice as well.

Cost of d-man at the deadline.
Polak and Russell cost a 2nd+ last year.
Gelinas and Weber each cost a 3rd and they are waiver fodder.
Worth it to see if the guy fits with our team, a physical 4/5 guy is lacking in this organization. In both the current team and the prospect pool.

36 points last year, playing 20+ minutes a night and significant time on the PK.
He's a solid #4 option.

He was pretty damn good the past few years. A good #4 at least. Then the he had a knee injury before this year(i think) and hasn't had the greatest of seasons as a result.
A coyotes fan had this to say over at hf

For a 3rd rounder in the worst draft in years, you've got a steal.

Last year he was a legit 2nd pairing guy. Since his injury and surgery he's been a bottom pairing type.
