Yes. He's doing pretty well in general to this point.

Patrick Laine is one-dimensional. Nylander is not.

The Blue Jays have had a massive resurgence not just in Toronto, but all over Canada. They were 1st in attendance in the AL.
Toronto is the most diverse city in the entire world. There are other spots that are huge as well due to the different cultures living there.

Might be more of the fact that Matthews is on pace for 45 goals that he's considered the favourite.
|
This.
The Leafs never win any awards. So saying they get favoured is silly. There's no fact behind it.
Matthews is on pace for one of the most impressive rookie seasons in a long time.

The last time a Leaf player went first overall, everyone thought he was a lock to win the Calder too. Then, an American kid playing for the Flames won it instead.
I hope history repeats itself.

It's a fantastic city. Don't be mad. There's not a more clean, safe big city in North America.

Patrick Laine isn't one-dimensional? Really? All the numbers say yes he is.
Nylander has better advanced stats BTW. Nylander was the best possession player on the ice tonight. Laine never does that.
I don't think many of you are aware of pitiful Laine's advanced stats are. There are over a dozen rookies killing him right now in overall stats(The Leafs alone have 4 rookie forwards with better advanced stats than Laine),..

Haha. I wasn't disagreeing with you... just providing a Coles notes of how you like to make your case.
Seeing as how words aren't your friends, perhaps a video might help:

That's not true. I have provided this board with all advanced stats to show how poorly defensively and one-dimensional Laine is.

Yeah. Since 2015/16. Quite the stretch of time.
We will see if he gets to Panarins point totals. I think not.

What award was that? The last significant one was 1993.
Matthews is a franchise changer. I do not care about a 25 year old rookie wingers stats who is not as good last season.

Ya, not as good.
15-16
80GP, 30-47-77
16-17 (on pace for)
82GP, 31-46-77
Huge drop off there.
Matthews is a franchise changer because Toronto is a garbage franchise. That's not saying he isn't good, but perspective is required.

Auston Matthews is already at 19 a top 10 NHL player. In fact, Pierre mcguire, who knocks the Leafs all the time said on the radio he was top 3.
Matthews is a franchise changer on every rebuilding franchise, not just Toronto. He's a much more important player than Patrick Laine. Feels like you're underrating him. Panarin arrived in the NHL in his mid 20's and got top line minutes with superstars to pad his production. Just not the same type of player.
Matthews is doing this with some mediocre talent on his line, and still isn't getting that much ice-time considering. His advanced stats are top-notch. He is a true 200 ft star in his rookie year.

BigTuna is pretty much the king of trolling around here. Why people choose to engage I'm not really sure. I guess we all get bored sometimes and gotta get some laughs out.
