Exactly. They also have their favourites which is ridiculous, just cut a loud fart by McDavid and find out. It is nonsense.
I don't even mind them giving the best players calls, it happens in the NBA all the time if you want to compare leagues. Most of the time it is a penalty because the player is just too good. I can only really talk about Johnny because I watch him the most but the kid gets zero help from the refs, and is never given the benefit of the doubt. He gets slashed and hunched over in pain and they think he's lying, he gets clearly tripped they think he dived. It's because he's small, that's it. He also has a potty mouth which I love but that's not enough for him to always get the shaft from the refs.
Tkachuk tipped the last goal I believe with the way he celebrated. When you tip a goal, you know it and he was definitely celebrating like it was his goal. But being as professional as he is, you know he won't say anything.
I don't think so. I'm quite sure that in all such situations players consult to ensure that everyone gets the credit he deserves. I actually think that it more likely went off the SJ defender, but was probably a clean shot through.

I actually didn't think Johnson played that well tonight. The Burns goal was Elliott-esque and he went swimming a few times. It's a good thing that Hathaway is a trained lifeguard.
Of course, then he goes and saves the Flames bacon with 2 big stops with the game on the line. It's so nice to have a goalie that you can trust to make a big save when you need them. It wasn't a very inspiring win, but I'll take 2 points over looking good.

That missed goal for Johnny was inexcusable. Especially considering they awarded San Jose a penalty shot on a very borderline play just earlier in the last 7 mins of the game.
Just embarrassing on the officials. The fact they won't be held accountable for doing their job so poorly is a joke.
Agreed, horrible calls by the refs. Boedker could have had a Kesler rolling/dive gif after that flop of his on the penalty shot call.

I agree, I think Tkachuk was just really pumped because he's a supreme competitor, he was probably just stoked he screened the goalie on the play.

LOL PDB getting in trouble?
Oh man, 5 D again. Considering there were only 5 last night, that’s a lot of minutes for the top guys.
Quote:
Wow Mueller kicked out
Embarrassing lineup mistake. Should never have happened.
Now they are down to 5 D, 1 rookie, so 4 and a half D
Quote:
Couture on radio: Martin got injured during warmups.
Couture told Mueller that tonight was the best game he ever had.
Quote:
I'm guessing it's an injury situation
Martin probably thought he could go, but after they turned in the lineup, it turned out he couldn’t, so they just…snuck Mueller in.
Quote:
I'm also of the mind that it wasn't a lineup "mistake"
DeBoer knew what he was doing.
Quote:
He’s a lawyer, it’s what he does
Quote:
If there ever was a legit time to call Deboer an idiot...
Quote:
Especially considering after the refs told the coaches, PDB laughed
‘Oops, got caught I guess’.
Frolik ties
Quote:
Ugh sorry guys, i got home, turned on the TV, and Flams scored
Quote:
Burns and Dillon leave Frolik by himself.
Quote:
The problem was more that the D-men let two players behind them. That's not really a great approach to defense.
Tkachuk the Terrible
Quote:
Tkachuk is gonna score two points per game over his career versus the Sharks, isn't he.
Quote:
Of course its Tkachuk
Quote:
Tkachuk's tenth career point against the Sharks.
Quote:
Already? Damn.
Edit: There's no way that is true.
Quote:
That was a joke, but the fact that you thought it was serious kinda makes my point.
Quote:
So legitimately, it's Tkachuk's 5th point in 2.67 games against the Sharks. My 2 PPG prediction isn't that far off.

Sniper Boedker works only vs Edmonton = confirmed.

So are we blaming this on DeBoer and Boedker?

I'm sorry....i did not believe hard enough.

My heart hurts.

same. honestly, i think seeing him get denied on that shot hurts even more than losing the game altogether.

**** you Boedker
Quote:
Scores a hat trick against us and yet can't score on a penalty shot. **** off, Boedker.

Thanks for nothing you Coyotes reject.

****ing sharks play a backup against the flames and of course, the flames cash in from that. useless sharks.
Quote:
**** you again Boedker
Quote:
Thanks for at least consistently sucking tonight Boedker
Quote:
Flames get a late softie from a back-up to win...probably won't get Scheider either on Friday
oh well, no 3 point game and the division is still within reach
Quote:
much rather have the sharks win in regulation so no points would be rewarded to the flames. But hey, Boedker already saved his glorious scoring for us yesterday. Useless plug.
Quote:
The Sharks are making the playoffs. They aren't a concern.
The Flames are a fringe team, like us.
I would've taken a three point game over a Flames win as long as the Flames got the single.
Quote:
Although he got a penalty, I loved Tkachuk grabbing Burns' stick and bringing it to the bench with him.

Tkachuck ties it up.. and I cry on the inside again at the thought of him in the green and blue..
Who is cutting onions again!!

Tkachuk has 27 points now, another two tonight.

No no no no. That was a seeing eye shot by a guy who does that every game. Johnson was screened and gets a pass for that. He was great this game. Johnson is this teams starter and proved it again tonight
Never said this but man the NHL needs to review the refs in this game. Anybody in any profession do their job poorly they get reviewed. Should be the same for refs. Awful awful display by them
Supposedly they ARE reviewed each game. But who really knows?
Dan O'Halloran has been reffing for 21 years - he really should know better. The other guy is a newbie, just 70 games in 3+ years, so maybe some slack - still, he's in the "best league in the world"....
The overall reffing has been brutal, and not just in this game. Seems that everyone is bothered by it, but nothing seems to change, other than it gets worse.
Happy it worked out and the right team won. Boys played well, still making some dumb mistakes though. Pleased beyond belief with Tkachuk - he is really rounding into a heck of a player!

Agreed, I've never bought that the league actually reviews reffing and this game obviously won't but watching these refs call phantom calls not just against the Flames but against every team is really awful to see. Tkachuk seems to get better every game, amazing we got him at 6.
I hate the way this team has played most of the season (their structure and puck support is abysmal) and so many good players have taken a step back or stagnated, yet they continue to hold down a playoff spot.... I honestly think the hockey gods allow them continue winning just to undermine my sanity.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy the Flames are having success, I just don't get it... It's like watching one of those magic tricks where my eyes are telling me with 100% certainty that the hat is empty, yet suddenly there's a rabbit coming out.
