He put up a decent start, absolutely. Can't ask for more.

However, this was a game that a guy like Elliott (the good version) can go out and steal 2-1 in a shootout or something to that effect.

Thats fair. I would like to see Elliott start the next one against the Ducks, in Anaheim. Hopefully by then he'll be on a roll.

Default Elliott vs. Johnson

Not worth it for the extra cap hit. He wouldn't really be an upgrade over Elliott either.

I still think it was the right call to go for the puck - the PK had just killed off the 5 on 3, the puck was sitting there, and you needed fresh legs on for a change. But he did so somewhat sluggishly while leaving the obvious part of the net open. Technical mistakes.
Watching it again a few times I can see what you are saying. I thought the leg got pushed back by Vermette's knee as he was going down in front of Johnson but it does have more of a "flick" (for lack of a better word) to the movement that could definitely have been reflex from trying to stretch out to cover it.

What you need is for a goaltender to make enough saves to win.
Last night Kincaid had to make 43 saves on 44 shots to get the shootout win (0.977). Dubnyk won allowing 4 goals on 28 shots (0.857).
Just win
