Yes, Jeremy Lauzon (52nd overall) is playing for Canada. Zach Senyshyn (15th overall) was in camp, but lost out to Dube and others.

pretty crazy that Philly has 8 players there despite the fact that Provorov and Konecny are unavailable because they're already in the NHL. Tampa has 5 Canadians, but "only" one player from other countries.

In contrast EDM has 2...

USA assistant coach describes the 3 goalies at camp:
https://www.nhl.com/news/us-deciding...?tid=281266438
Quote:
Mayotte, who is making his debut on the U.S. national junior team coaching staff, broke down for NHL.com the positive attributes of each goaltender.
On Parsons: "He's not afraid to make the split save and reach for a few more pucks; he's able to make that second save but at the same time his rebound control is phenomenal. He's almost like Velcro; the puck hits him and it doesn't come back out or he puts it to the corner. If he doesn't control it, he has the athletic ability to recover."
On Woll: "He's more technical than [Parsons] but also has that athletic quickness and skating. He's very clean and very efficient, he gets to his spot and fills the net. He makes the save and moves on to the next one. He's a very efficient goalie."
On Oettinger: "The biggest of all three goalies (6-foot-4, 202 pounds). He's very good at keeping everything in front of him. You're not going to see him reach for many pucks, and he works inside his box and is good at it. With that size, he can really skate and can anticipate plays so he's usually always in the right position."

Fox showing he is the man to Quarterback the PP?
https://www.nhl.com/news/five-things...?tid=281266438
Quote:
"We had a couple guys in the wrong spots the first day at camp," Motzko said. "We had Luke Kunin (Minnesota Wild) in front of the net the first day and noticed when we put him on the half-wall, he was ripping them in. Clayton Keller (Arizona Coyotes) is more comfortable in a half wall-type situation, and defenseman Adam Fox (Calgary Flames) stood out working the point."

^ IMO that was the role he was always going to get. The question is how much it will be expanded and how much he will be used 5 v 5.

Harvard has the top PP in the NCAA right now (30.6%), and Fox is a major reason why.

Honest question: Would Dan Boyle be a good comparable for Fox? Undersized skilled defenseman who can be a PP quarterback. I can't think of a lot of other players like that off the top of my head.

Ryan Ellis
Torey Krug
Brian Rafalski
Paul Reinhart
Phil Housley
Just off the top of my head.
But as DustyGoon below me has said, his best comparable is Brian Rafalski or Torey Krug IMO

Boyle had a bit of an edge to him in board battles. Not sure Fox has that or not. I think more Rafalski when i think of Fox. Although Fox has better numbers in USHL and college vs rafalski to this point (not sure how comparable Wisconsin back then to Harvard now is....Wisconsin probably had it tougher).

Rafalski was a hell of a player. If the Flames have someone who turns out similar to him that would be a huge win for them.

Sweden had better use Kylington on their PK instead of writing him off as an offensive PP specialist. He's been Stockton's best penalty killer IMO, and Stockton has the second best PK in the AHL right now.

Wow really? That's pretty great news. Maybe 2017/2018 is the year of Kylington.

Reinhart was 5'11" and 205. He was not a little guy.

I never thought of Reinhart as undersized, but the Flames would also use him at centre during playoffs, so maybe he wasn't playing like a big defenseman.

I was thinking more along play style in Reinhart's case. But I still find 5'11 and 205 below average for an NHL defencemen in that era.

If Tkachuk was gone at 6, I wanted Alex Nylander. Looks like the Sabres have released him to the WJCs
