Probably the same reason Scorpion has Jones on his list. For whatever reason, some people are just drawn to some players.
For me, it was always Tabaracci, Trefilov. Even Trevor Kidd. I loved him as a kid

I like the weirdest guys. Jones, Dean McAmmond, Wayne Primeau, Jason Jaffray, Matt Lombardi, Roman Turek, Brian Boucher, Rafa Diaz... I dunno, man.

This is the messageboard equivalent of the guy who likes the same band everyone else does, but says he only listens to their B tracks.
Hey Man, I just got the new Tragically Hip album!
Dude, I totally love them too! Seriously, though, how good is Track 8 on Side Two of the EP they released in Japan in 1993 that was nothing but speedmetal covers of crazy Japanese commercial jingles?!!?
Uhh... I really like Blow at High Dough...
Oh weird, I've never even heard that song before. Must be from their new stuff.
McAmmond, I'll give you, but Matthew "the Handless Horseman" Lombardi was was one of the most frustrating Flames I've ever watched. Turek was lights-out for like the first eight games he played here then was the original version of last season's Jonas Hiller for the entire rest of the time he played here.
The rest of your list is just pointless. Jason Jaffray literally only played three games for the Flames and he's one of your all-time favourites?

Jaffray only played 3 games for the Flames...
I loved a lot of role players on the team, but they still played for the team! Eric Nystrom, Clarke Wilm, etc.

Not all-time favourites. They just happen to be guys who I rooted for a bit more than the others.
I could add guys like Jamie Lundmark, Nigel Dawes, and Krzysztof Oliwa to that list, too. Not all-time favourites like Fleury or Vernon -- just guys who I liked more than others.
Edit: and in regards to Jaffray -- I've always been a Swift Current Broncos fan, and have followed his progression since he was drafted. Three games isn't the only basis I have for being a fan.

I like three 'dub teams pretty equally. Wrong team.

That's fair, but then that would make him one of your favourite Broncos - not one of favourite Flames.
Anyway, far be it from me to tell someone who their favourites should or shouldn't be. It's just my respect for logic that makes me question this stuff sometimes.
