Need to find a way to put the puck in the net, and once we do we are home free. Not sure why everything is always on the coach. Someone put up the stats previously of coaches who started off super slow and went on to do some pretty great things - Deboer and Johnston i think it was (they were in the cup final last year). I know time is dwindling but I liked the effort out there tonight. But once again, find a way to finish.

Look at the goals against.
1st - multiple shots, no clearing the puck = goal
2nd - tic tac toe passing play leaves the defenders going what happened.
3rd - goalie makes the first save, not the second one because Gaudreau did a poor job on the backcheck.
4th - replay of goal #2.
The Flames defense has been beyond horrible and that's due to not having any secondary depth.
|
Surely you are kidding, Gio and Brodie have been worse than anyone except Grossman.

Missed that part.
Is the dog signed? Might inject some enthusiasm into the line up.

I've been a fan since 1986 and it's the first time I can remember no longer caring and choosing not to watch back-to-back weekend games.
I guess I'll start caring once JG and SM start caring about more than just cashing ~$500k CDN every two weeks. And Glue Gun has got to go...

For the Flames you don't need to add "brutal" to their schedule, it's redundant.

Essentially handicapping the team of its greatest strength. Most goals in the league by d-men last season. I guess GG didn't do his homework..

The system calls for breaking out as a unit, and that's fine, but when there's an opportunity for a 2 zone pass guys like Gio and Brodie have to have the green light to make it. A guy like Johnny has to have the green light to bust into the holes that he sees. Don't build your system around it, but let them utilize it. Tough to know what he's telling them about stuff like that though.
There are other problems though. I've never seen JG with so little compete for the puck in board battles. I think the cheap shots he takes are starting to get to him.
|
Johnny gets pushed down 2 or 3 times in a row and no one comes to defend him, I don't understand how we can be a team with out sticking up for our skilled "smaller" players. Then you have the refs turning a blind eye and not making any calls. Guess the league is still pissed about Wideman.

Oilers, Vancouver, Oilers again, Canes, LA (when they hadn't scored in 3 straight games) And that was a 5-0 loss to a cold team.

I expect something big to happen before Christmas.
Coaching change, firings, trades. Something.
We are not the Oilers and the fans won't stand behind terrible hockey.

Two of those three wins against "good" teams was against their backup goalies. Teams have stopped taking us seriously. Being a good team is not about beating a good team every now and then. Being a good team is wining consistently despite playing good teams.

If this is your rock bottom as a Flames fan then one of the following two things must be true:
1. You haven't actually been a fan since 86
2. You are emotional right now and have likely stated what you just stated many times before.

Agreed. We're a pretty rotten team. No unity. No one stands up for each other. Gutless.

I noticed that too. That should have caused a storm on the ice. I've made my feelings about the coaching clear but where is the captain through all this?

Really worried.
Last year I remember the Anaheim players were beaking the Flames about owning them at the Honda Center. If you ever needed billboard material, nothing better than a team that's consistently mocking you on the ice. Yet they come and have another listless performance. No balls.
I'm not impressed with the coaching, but also time to call the veteran leadership to the carpet. Sometimes leadership isn't just playing hard yourself, but setting an expectation wherein the guys are scared of you if they don't give it their all on their shift.

Also wanted to be a better possession team, we are currently bottom 10 in the league in Corsi%
