Meatless and dairy free meals 4-5 days a week.
No cable.
No cell phone data (this one is brutal to do. I'm considering adding data back).
Selling one vehicle and becoming a 1-car family.
Living in a small house with very few "amenities" (no garage, no ensuite bathroom, kids share bedrooms, etc).
Buy used clothes.
Get books from the library.
Take transit to work.
a big expense is trips. do people really have to go on an all-inclusive every year?
how many road trips did our parents take us on our entire childhood? 5?
If don't take trips, you don't have to cut back on all of the above posted

I would rather cut back on all those other things and keep the travel - although not all inclusives. For me, the main point of living inexpensively day to day is to have the opportunity to do awesome things like travel.

I could cut a lot of costs by reducing the food budget. Unfortunately I enjoy the finer things in life such as cured meats, aged Italian cheese, and craft beer.
Most of my cost savings are from work though. The cell phone, stationary, and even my sunglasses are courtesy of the job.
No more starbucks.......7-11 or brew at home for a third of the cost
No more booze....Oct 2016 --2 years sober saved a ton already
Eat 1 regular meal a day
Pay more towards all interest bearing debt in advance
Change my own oil
Cut the cord on TV
Library for music , books
Cook more eat out less
Always shop for better deals, stores , for groceries, home insurance, car insurance, write offs(self employed)
Give myself allowance
Buy used everything....nothing new...value village, kijiji,
Don't keep up with any Jones, fade trend, bs
Cheap out on everything but I get what I need when I want and don't feel as if I am missing out.
I spend considerably less because this economy has me depressed to the point of paranoia about spending anything today so I might have my tens of dollars tomorrow to spend on nothing.
Buy used everything....nothing new...value village, kijiji,
.
And along with that, sell everything you don't use. Everything. Put it all on kijiji and you'll be surprised how many people will reply. Obviously not much $$$ but it adds up!

What kind of sunglasses get supplied by your employer?

I know it's been mentioned a lot, but eating at restaurants or getting take out is such a waste (unless you are celebrating a special occasion or something). I know people and families that eat out like once or twice a week.
I went to Subway a few weeks ago and it was like $10 for a fricken' sub after taxes. I couldn't believe it.

I'll disagree, I don't think people drink enough water on the whole, but you are correct in that water comes in various forms and it depends on the person. The general consensus is that 2L a day (whether through liquid or solids) is universally the proper amount. Perhaps even more if you are physically active. Dehydration can be the source of many ailments of the human body.
According to Collegehumour, which is where I get all my medical and diet advice for obvious reasons, this is all a bunch of crap.

If you say "general consensus" without providing a link to a meta study establishing that general consensus when someone already posted an article from a doctor who published literature on debunking the "general consensus" which includes where the inocoorect info comes from and your response is you should google it.
