No Phaneuf? That's dumb.
Has anyone figured out a trade to get Hamrlik and Amonte and Mccarty?
|
What inferno said.
Just trade for Hamrlik.. I got him or like Eriksson and Buzek or something.. Just toss a couple of guys who shouldn't be on the roster for the people we have now. I did the same thing to get Macdonald. I created Phaenuef before I started my season and signed him as a free agent when I began the season.
By the time EA releases a roster pack i'll probabley be done my first season anyway :P [/b][/quote]
I traded Hamrlik for Lydman.

You don't even need to trade, you can just edit the rosters if you do it on the main page and just save them before you start your dynasty.

What systems is 2k6 on?
Personally, I liked NHL 2005, and 2006 seems to be getting lots of good reviews here so I think I'll have to go and buy it sooner rather than later.

some of the stupid things...
buzek still shows up.
our rating is the same as atlanta...give me a break!
fighting not intuitive...i would way prefer that they go with the fight night controls...
what i love...
iggy was on fire when i first played...4 goals.
commentary not boring...yet.
flames fans not c of red...but there were classic jerseys both white and red in the crowd.
deking wicked...
one timers great!
fwiw...most of the bad stuff is fixable yourself...
defo evolutionary not revolutionary.

Meh...I have a been underwhelmed by NHL 06...my previous game was NHL 02 for xbox, and that was a lot of fun with a ton of extra crap (the color commentary in 02 is silly but funny).
"That hit made me want to dance like Shirley Temple"
"If that guy was a jelly donut there would be jelly everywhere"
"something...something...unleash the dogs of war"
Anyways, maybe '06 will grow on me, but I am with Shawnski...not impressed...definitely recommend to rent/borrow first
Blogger likes it though 06>>>2k6

It looks like they didnt fix the dynasty mode bug where when you're playing a road game you can only edit the computer lines which is too bad but maybe if enough people complain about it they'll fix it in a patch. Other than that the game is better than previous versions.
*Edit*
Looks like it's first patch has been unofficially released:

Hey guys... really stupid question. How do you update to "Online Rosters"? Did you download some off the internet, or can you update them through EA somehow?

Get the network adapter and hook your ps2 up to the net.
Then go into Play Online in the Game Modes menu.
When you log in to EA online (you have to create an account if you don't have one...very easy), your current rosters are overwritten. You can then log off and save them over your old ones.
Not sure how to update rosters AND save a create a player though.

I'm actually using PC :P ... sorry, should have made that clear. I haven't been able to create an account with EA yet as it says they are having problems... I'm guessing it will become clear how to update them once I have an account.
Thanks.

well I started a season, on medium skill level, played 15 straight games. record at 12-3.
this game is awesome, highly addictive as well. I would say it's one of the best versions EA has come out with.

I started a new dynasty on Difficult level with my created team. When I first created the team I just chose ethe first 18 players on Anaheim to fill my created team's roster spots because that was the first team on the list to pick from, and I didn't plan on using those players either -- I wanted to do a fantasy draft.
However, I come to find out that, for whatever reason, this year EA decided not to let you do a fantasy drafy in dynasty mode -- VERY lame!
So in spite of that, I when ahead and removed those Anaheim players so that I wouldn't have duplicates of them in the league, and instead I choose guys that were on the Free Agent list. People like Dafoe and Aubin in goal, fowards like Lindros, Messier, McCamond (sp?), LeClair, Deadmarsh, LaChane, Karpa, etc. My D is crappy, but I have some good vets on offense. I know Lindros and LeClair have teams now, but for some reason EA didn't update them.
Anywho, I finallly have a game against Calgary, and I see that they not only have John LeClair like me, but Mark Messier too! WTF?? I purposely chose people from the free agent list so that I would have a team of guys that aren't duplicated on other NHL teams, and now all of a sudden I see clones of my players. That's real irritating and I need to find some kind of editor (hopefully Suchy makes NHL View '06 soon) so that I can remove them from the other teams.
At any rate, my dynasty is going fairly well at 7-5-0-1. The only gripe I have is that my goalie's GAA is about 6 because basically every game I play is usually 8-8, give or take a few goals. I have NO idea why the goalies are terrible, but basically all you have to do is center the puck in the slot, fire a one timer, and them bam, it's in the net. The gameplay is very realistic, I like how when you dump the puck in off the boards it will sometimes take a "bad" bounce and not go all the way around the net, and I really Really love how you can injure players who take hard slapshots to the feet/legs. I also like the player I created of myself was near the net, tripped by the goalie, and the goalie received a penalty for it! But overall the insane goal scoring needs to be toned down drastically. I'm getting about 8 goals per team per game with just about 35 shots per team, sometimes 40 or 45...but still.
What gives?

Agreed. The biggest problem I have with the game is the lack of defense (especially your team's AI) and the crappy goaltending. It's awfully high scoring, I guess they may as well call it NHL '86.

Man you guys suck... The key to this game is playing positional and trying to block opposition passes and shots. I'm having alot of 3-2 games, 2-1 games myself. Shots around 25 per team on average.

Very true. My first game I won 10-6 with the sliders untouched. I tweaked them and my next game ended up being a 4-2 win with the 4th goal being an empty netter. The shots were a bit high at 45-30 but compared to the shot count I had the first game it's acceptable. The game forces you to play good defense and instead of just going after the guy with the puck you need to watch the player(s) in front of the net.

Yeah, I do suck so far. I usually win the Cup, and probably will this time, but it's taking some adjusting so far. Maybe it's because I've been playing MVP 2005 all summer.
What settings are you playing on?
