I guess I can try to shed some light since I am Arab. Like any race there are a lot of people within them that frown upon inter-racial dating/marriage. Arabs, Muslims in particular, are very traditional and family is very important to them (not just immediate, like anyone who has a tie into your family name). Arabs do take into account what all family members feel and believe and if your daughter is about to marry a man who is not Muslim your family will get grilled on it by a lot of the family. Its to bad that many Muslims are not open minded about things like this but it really isn’t going to change all that much, especially if you come from a family deep into tradition.
The part about here not wanting to "mingle" with non-Arabs is probably based on that your of the opposite sex rather then race. I’m sure she has friends of different race. Arab girls have been taught that it's kind of taboo to hang out with people of the other sex if they are not family or your fiancé/hubby.
These things might seem out dated but tradition/culture, family, and religion are the most important things in many Arabs lives.
