$6.7 million is going to be a good deal in the future. Who would you rather:
Monahan (centre) $6.7 million for 7 years
Lucic (winger) $6 million for 7 years

Maybe a terrible team to do a compare with but I will take the "overpay" of Monahan any day

Excellent. This org has spent how many years searching for that elusive #1 centre? Lock him up for 8 years and call it a day.

For me is it's over $6.5M I'm going to hold out hope that it is a twin deal with Gaudreau. and we will hear about it within the next week. If it's under $6.5 great deal for Monahan, but I'm going to assume they still have allot of work left to do on the Gaudreau contract. Not sure which I'm hoping for.

I know people dislike Francis but he has been right a number of times and it is clear he has contacts.
Honestly I don't get the massive dislike for him. He is miles better than a guy like Doughboy in my opinion.

Eric Francis is CGY's Damien Cox, sure he knows people but he truly grinds my gears with a lot of the garbage he spews out there over the course of a season.

When he is just breaking stuff like the Monahan signing like he did and did it well, all is great, but 9 times out of ten I cannot stand his between period commentary.

You really think he's that bad? Eeesh.

I definitely don't agree with that. Cox is the worst hockey personality out there in my eyes, and by a fair margin. I generally don't dislike on-air personalities, but Cox just rubs me the wrong way.

Francis is a contrarian. He doesn't make any bones about it. In an environment where most of the sports media have a pretty soft touch with the local teams, it doesn't hurt to have a guy like Francis around to stir the pot a bit.

Contrarian's can be valuable - but I think they cross the line when they make irrational arguments just to be counter. I don't think Francis does this as much as he used to, and not to the degree that Doughboy does.
I also strangely like Francis a lot more on radio than in print.

His other (somewhat) recent error escapes me but personally the "take it to the bank" and "100% guarantee" of Boudreau being the next coach of the Flames left a sour taste. But this honestly does redeem him somewhat in my eyes. For what thats worth.

His intermission analysis grinds my gears. Yeah, I suppose he has contacts and can break a story.

But I'm sorry, his analysis, both oral and written, are bad.
