I'd lower everyone by a third of a letter grade (unless it's relative to our prospect pool). There is a tier of prospect above Tkachuk that we don't have (and neither do most).

It's all relative though, we're ranking Flames prospects to Flames prospects not every prospect out there, so if Tkachuk is our A+ prospect we go from there.

Franchise players. Tkachuk looks good but he's not the player you build an entire team around.

I guess the other element here is where do our prospects drop into B level. Is Tkachuk, Gillies and Jankowski our only A prospects?

I am more comfortable thinking of Kylington, Hickey, Andersson and Shinkaruk as A- rather than B+.

How about tiers something like this (edits welcome):

A++ Franchise build the team around
A+ Long Career NHL 1st line forward; 1-2D; starting goalie likely
A Long Career NHL Top 6 forward; top 4D; NHL 1B or backup goalie at least
A- Definite multiyear NHL career somewhere in line-up NHL>>AHL/KHL
B+ Probable multiyear NHL career somewhere in line-up NHL>AHL/KHL
B AHL/KHL>NHL tweener
B- AHL/KHL>>NHL tweener
C A few NHL games at best over entire career
D Career AHL, KHLer only- no NHL games ever
