It will be easy to bag on Edmonton, I mean, isn't it always? But regardless of the perception of the trade or the way it pans out, kudos to them for finally pulling the trigger and moving one of their core guys. Bad deal, sure. But they're new at this whole "trade" thing when it comes to elite talent on their current roster.
edit: 1 for 1. Yikes. I thought Larsson was 'a piece' coming back. Figured it would still favour NJ when I wrote the above. I didn't realize that was all they got. Eek.

I'm sad. Seems to be setting the plate for the No Goods to replace Hall with Lucic, and add Larsson in the process.
It's a hilariously lopsided trade on its own, but it does make the Oilers better.

Haha, if it is 1 for 1. That hurts like Rishaug pointed out. I like it for NJ, someone to line up and keep up with Zacha or McLeod.
EDM gets Adam Larsson who is a good YOUNG d man. A lot of folks feel his development got stymied in NJ with the old coach. He's improved since then. Time will tell if the OIlers can get anything out of him. Still, a move they had to do.

There's no way that was the best offer out there for Hall... He comes with his flaws for sure but I would have thought that a proven goal scorer like Hall nets a better return than that. Not even a third round pick thrown in? Nothing?

So the Flames get Dougie Hamilton for a mid 1st and two 2nds that are years away from doing anything IF they even make the NHL, and it took the Oilers their #1 overall pick who's been a PPG player for a while to get Adam freakin Larsson?

I honestly didn't expect them to get much for Hall but this is not even close to what I pictured as a worse case scenario. Way to go Oilers....hang on to the kid for two years too long and then flip him for a 1 dimensional defender? At least get a guy with some proven offensive ability.
