Im willing to give GG a chance.

No excuses now. BT has his guys in place. I expect playoffs this year and contender status after this season and next.

Agreed. Problem is, there's always the trademark fallback of "Well, it's going to take awhile for the players to unlearn all the bad habits Hartley taught them"
so I think Gulutzan will get some rope regardless.

I'm looking forward to a Flames team that plays a much better defensive game. I believe the blueline's talent was somewhat wasted under Hartley as while he extracted as much offense as possible these guys also looked pretty amateur in their own end at times and there's enough talent here to have a dominant 2-way group that can still join the rush and transition but also lock down and frustrate opponents with solid position and discipline. I'm sure shoring up the defense was a key discussion item in this hire and I'm excited to see this team transition to a more up to date style of play.

I am hoping there will also be an announcement that henceforth press conferences are to be known as "Process Conferences".

Glen Gulutzan is a natural winner in comparisson with Bob Hartley who won Junior, AHL, NHL and European championship.

But anyway i wish Glen the best in Flames!

Personally, I think that rating a coach by how many guys are having a career year is a terrible way to go about it anyway.

Just win, baby!

I like the fact that as a younger coach he has already had some challenges, failed and now ready to prove himself again. Not going to read to much into his time in Dallas as HC just hope that he is the right fit for what the team needs going forward. I think that he seems to understand the teaching/development aspect of coaching quite well and this looks like it is something he will apply to his everyday interactions with the players.

Looks like it will just be Treliving and Gulutzan at the press conference. No seats for Burke or an assistant.

No, it's because you're becoming one of those obsessive one-note posters. Truly one of the most aggravating styles on this board. Think DOOM and Kris Russell, where are u Chris O Sullivan and Backlund.
No your right fans will running down the street high fiving each "did you hear no what we got Gulutzan. What ?
You know Gulutzan? No what is that some kind of skin rash?
No he is our new head coach. Really fire up the wagon sparky we gotta go spread the word.
Is he any good?
But before we do Ummm everything is awesome right?

I guarantee there will be way more who the hell is that around the city today then high fives of yes we got our guy.
That is a simple reality. I am wearing shorts today maybe your wearing pants. So does that mean one of us made a better choice, No.

Goldy you need to chill out and accept that the new coach is being hired. It's out of your control and no amount of complaining for whining will change that the franchise is going this direction. You have to understand from everyone else's point of view it would get annoying listening to someone complain about something that is not reversable. I get that you don't like the hire but even though he's not my first choice I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and as of now he's done no worse than any of the new coaches hired and I've learned over the years that some of the high profile coach hirings never work out and some of the under the radar hirings turn out the best. Time will tell on this hire but no point in getting all upset about a story that has yet to be written. Give it a chance. You might like it.

Also, Stay Golden: who cares if nobody knows who the hell he is? Nobody knew who Treliving was when we hired him. I know you think that Treliving is "slime" but still, the rest of us have grown to think of him as one of the best GMs in the game.

Name recognition isn't everything.

CBC News says they will stream it, but they haven't put up a link yet.
