Just wanted to review this article post-draft. You nailed the Andersen part Bingo, but then Tre went out and scooped a guy not even part of your detailed analysis. Nice work trying to play the role of our beloved GM...but don't mess with greatness! ;-)

Yeah, I wonder Bingo, what would your numbers be for Elliot?

Dirt cheap, teensy little cap hit, elite level numbers.

A grand slam

That's what's great about Treliving. He does what nobody expects him to do.

Some moves he makes you gloss over in your own mind assuming it couldn't be done.

Elliott. Hamilton. The Russell trade. Even hometown fans don't propose moves like that aloud lest they be berated by their own kind.

Update!

Interesting, I didn't include Elliot as the Blues had said they were happy going into next season with their tandem. What we didn't know ... Elliot had suggested a change of scenery might be best.

Using the exact same parameters as in the story and adding Elliot and giving Elliot rankings on skill, adjustment to new equipment, cost to acquire and cap hit yields ...

First Chart where skill had a high weighting

Elliot edges out Vasilevsky.

Second Chart where affordability and cost to acquire are paramount

Elliot edges out Reimer.

Interesting result with the Flames current goaltender being the best choice in either scenario

Interesting - and really, not a big surprise.

When you approach it from the point of view that all three things are important (skill, cost to acquire, and cap hit), Treliving knocked it out of the park with Elliott.

The one thing that needs to be added though, is the extension cost for Elliott (assuming they do extend him). His cap hit is a bit misleading as it's only for one year.

But yeah, fantastic trade.

For fun I rated Elliot's cap hit at 6 instead of 9 (assuming 5M per season) and he's 2nd in the 2nd scenario behind Reimer, and 1st in the 1st scenario (skill first)
