Ya this is an OK result. The Flames just don't have lottery luck. I don't think we will ever draft first overall. Oh well.

Seems like there is some good talent at 6th overall. Hope the Flames can hit a home run here.

Our one saving grace may be that Vancouver and Edmonton both need dman. If they were top 3 obviously wouldn't happen but fortunately they fell out of top 3. Things could work out for us yet again. I hope it happens.

Would not be surprised to see the oilers trade their pick n the least. If The Canucks have any clue what they are doing they'll take best player available.

Sadly the flames will be left with pickin a D/nylander/brown.

If the flames could trade the pick to Anaheim for Anderson, I would hope they give that some serious consideration.

Guess i am one of the few that is pissed about dropping a spot. I don't care that Vancouver or Edmonton dropped 2. IMO don't think flames will get either Tkachuck or Dubois. Going into this lottery those were the 2 guys i wanted the flames to get other than top 3. Yes Edmonton and Vancouver might be stupid, but other teams will offer them something for their spot so they can drop, get a Dman and another asset.

As long as he can fall past the Oilers and Canucks down to us, the Flames will be a better team in a couple years. The only dissapointment is there's no killing of two birds with one stone in getting a right handed sniper. We can bring back Iggy for that PP role though.

It's funny. A few weeks ago I was pretty down on tkatchuk, but knowing we have no chance at Matthews or one of the fins, I would be very happy with him, or dubois.

I'm walking away from this feeling pretty damn content, to be honest.

Both Edmonton and Vancouver miss out on the big 3, and Calgary will get a good player at 6.

Had the Flames been desperate for a cornerstone piece to turn around a flagging franchise, I would have looked at this as a must-win, but they aren't. The Flames are 3 deep at centre (Monahan, Bennett, and Backlund), have one young, all-star winger, and a defense with both current and prospect depth.

I have faith that there's enough inventory in the goalie market that a trade can address the team's most glaring current need, and the 6th pick will net a winger that will fill in the future depth chart.

Given some of the horror stories that Bingo's lottery exercise generated, I wouldn't take a do-over if the league offered it. Instead, I'm breathing a sigh of relief, diving into the scouting reports for the players that might fall into the Flames position, and looking forward to a draft that doesn't start with, "With the 1st overall pick, the Edmonton Oilers/Vancouver Canucks are proud to select..."

Toronto hype is inescapable regardless of how the Leafs are doing. So this won't be worse than McDavid.
