So, which is it?
NAK-la-doll
or
na-KLAD-al
I'm of the opinion it's the first, so whenever Pinder uses the second option, my ears bleed.

It's the 2nd, Treliving used it during an interview last year.

FYI - At #Flames summer development camp, Jakub Nakladal said that you pronounce his last name "nuh-CLAW-dle" (as opposed to NACK-luh-doll).

Unlike many, I feel bad for Raymond (not that this wasn't the best choice to go down). It's gotta sting a lot for a veteran player with over 500 NHL games and 8 straight NHL years.
Of course the $3M is somewhat soothing, and aside from the actual city where the arena is, the location ain't bad.
I do think this is his last NHL contract and he will be in Glencross/Kaleta/Roy/Setsito territory.

It will be so nice not to see Mason Raymond skating around all hunched over being ultra useless.

It will be interesting to see what happens with expansion. If the League adds two teams for 2017-18, that creates about 50 new NHL jobs, plus an equal number of AHL spots. Suddenly, players who don't have a fit in a 30 team NHL could get a second life.

It's at least a reason for guys like Raymond to go to Europe for a year to stay in shape.
However, the salary cap will still be around so they better be prepared to compete with ELC and lower RFA contracts money-wise.

Here's a quick summary of how Nakladal plays.
He's mainly a defensive d-man that is very effective at using his stick to separate the puck from the opposing forward. He also tends to cut rushing forwards off at the blueline, forcing them to dump the puck in. Not afraid at all with throwing a hit. Reliable in his own zone, very similar to both Engelland and Smid in that regard.
The difference between him and those two defensemen is his booming slapshot. He is used as Stockton's Dennis Wideman/Dougie Hamilton on the power play. Give it to him at the point and he'll rifle a shot that's closer to 100 MPH. He's not the most offensively dynamic player on the ice, but he isn't particularly bad at it either and there might be more there than he's shown. He was primarily a defensive player in his days prior to the Flames signing him.
All in all, he is a steady #6 type of guy and will likely slot in without much notice in terms of mistakes once he is given a shot. May end up freeing up a spot for Treliving to move another player between now and the deadline.

He had every opportunity this year to shine and he squandered it. It's the professional top league in the world. You have to swim or sink (and still collect millions of dollars while riding the bus).

Looks like Flames got permission to move Wideman to non-roster
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
According to the #Flames website, Ferland activated off IR. Also, now Wideman not listed on the roster.

Hopefully Raymond is so embarrassed by this he decides to retire during the off-season. I know wishful thinking...

No doubt the OT record is great, but I also remember a lot of people complaining because certain veterans who played poorly for many games would get shifts in OT while Bennett sat.
God forbid someone questioned a coaching decision.

Sorry I feel way more sorry for Glencross than I do for Raymond. At least Raymond got a ton of games to show he was useless. Glencross didn't even get that chance this year.

I don't think one has to choose between the two. Anyway, Glencross' chance was in Washington. Plus he couldn't make THE LEAFS on a PTO. Frankly, I think he could have made a few teams, but they weren't willing to pay what a veteran wants, even one who's doing a PTO.
