I would have preferred the prequels never happened. Nothing in those three movies made the series as a whole better.
While I dont disagree on any particular point I have to side with MattyC on this one.
The prequels were garbage. But you know who likes terrible things? Children. Things children love are usually crap but kids loved the prequels and it sold crap tons of toys.
I cant argue against the fact that they defecated upon my own childhood, but they're a thing that happened that introduced the next generation to Star Wars and helped to lay the foundation of where we are now and where we are now, as Star Wars fans, is a pretty good place.
Although Female leads with ridiculous British accents is getting a little old. In all honesty its the accents that are really starting to bug me. Cant explain it.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
The more I think of the Imperial Officer with the cloak the more I believe that he is Imperial Intelligence and not some Grand Admiral salute.
The argument is that Grand Admirals wore white uniforms, but they're not Canon anymore.
This uniform
More represents the uniform of Wolf Yularen who was a character from the Clone Wars that was borrowed from ANH where he was a Imperial Intelligence Officer on the first Death Star
Personally while I doubt its true, it would be funny to link the Clone Wars with a fairly major character who was a hero in the Clone Wars in Yularen, who later showed up on the Death Star as the villain pictured.

Dude, don't you know. If you aren't American, you're British.

British accents are also the standard for anything involving knights/fantasy stuff too. Even though in that point in Britain, if they had been speaking English at all (it might have been celtic or latin or a combination of) it would have been old English, which probably would've sounded more like German than modern English.
I guess people yelling at each other in harsh German accents isn't as regal as people speaking in modern upper class UK accents. Also, I'm not sure why we always focus on Britain when referring to anything with castles and swords as they had those lots of other places at that time period...but yeah British accents.
Makes sense they would have a high up official in this movie trying to track down the Rebels before they can do any damage.

Oooooh, so ready for this.
I`m hoping for a Saving Private Ryan meets Star Wars kind of feel. It`ll be refreshing to see a Star Wars film that isn`t dominated by Jedi/Sith.
I`m also interested to see what they do with Donnie Yen in this film. He`s obviously going to be doing some hand to hand fighting, but can they make it look more Star Wars and not like he jumped straight out of a Kung Fu movie?
My money is already spent on this one. Such a sucker.
I keep going back to the cloaked figure and the device he's kneeling to. The common thought is that the tank holds the emperor. However. I have an alternative theory.
In ANH we don't see Vader using the meditation chamber, that isn't shown until ESB. What if Vader who is still healing and can't survive outside of his suit unless he's in that meditation sphere is actually in that tube.
We know that he oversaw and was involved in the construction of the Death Star. Its also logical to assume that Vader might have Imperial Guards at his disposal.
the kneeling figure is an interesting debate.
I doubt that its an inquisitor. Filoni has indicated that the Inquisitors are pretty much done at this point, and won't be needed in the future because there are no jedi to hunt.
I had another theory that it could be Snoke, it could be an interesting lashup to the future movies, and Snoke in TFA novel seems to be very connected to Vader.
I had a third series that we know that at this moment that Darth Maul is on the loose. When Palpatine crushed him at the end of TCW's he still had some use for him. Then I thought back to the meeting between Tarkin and Vader, where Tarkin indicated that Vader was the last of that old religion.
So then I thought, what if this wasn't even located on the Death Star, what if that scene takes place on Coruscant, and it is the Emperor, and this scene takes place near the end of the movie.
What if this is one of the Emperors spies or Sinister Agents and not a main villain, and he or she is informing the Emperor that he suspects that Princess Leia has the plans. Which then sparks the events of ANH right at the end of the film where we see Vader on the bridge of the Avenger receiving a communication from the Emperor and setting course to intercept the Tantive IV

I wonder if Felicity Jones got the role because she was the runner up to play Rey?
That said, it looked pretty sweet, but where was Vader?
I doubt we're going to see Vader until the very last trailer if at all in the trailers.
I would envision that we'll get a scene of rebel troopers advancing slowly on a bunker, the ground is littered with bodies of Stormtroopers and rebels alike.
The rebel squad leader does the usual clinched fist in the air and then slowly peers around a tree and we hear.
Then the screen goes black and we hear

Personally, I hope they leave Vader out of it. They need to start building storylines that can stand on their own if they want to keep this "A Star Wars Story" franchise going.
They already have it centred around the Death Star, that's more than enough of a touchstone.
