Congrats to one of the best and classiest player to ever lace them up. Great work Iggy!
Both 500 and 600 went off of the other D's skate on home ice - that's pretty funny. Too bad Maher couldn't call the 600th, that "YEAH BABY!" would be insane to hear.

I went through and updated my Excel worksheet that catalogues every assist on all 599 goals. I'll post it again once he hits 600, but for those that are curious the top 5 stands at:
1. Craig Conroy (78)
2. Alex Tanguay (77)
3. Daymond Langkow (53)
4. Dion Phaneuf (40)
5. Olli Jokinen (35)
Tanguay's are split between Calgary (64) and Colorado (13).
Lucic and Krejci sit 17th and 18th all-time with 15 and 14 assists respectively.
Yuck. No offence to those guys, but this really goes to show how much we missed that #1C. Langkow was close, I always liked him. Tanguay has had a pretty great career too, but obviously a winger. Not a great supporting cast up front.
I'd be interested to see how other big scorers like Ovi, Stamkos, Perry, Kane, etc compare. Most guys have another huge star on their line.

And damn you 1.5 lockouts. One right smack in the middle of his prime, and another that broke his 30 goals/season streak. Maybe, just maybe he would have had a chance at 700. I remember the day he scored his 300th and how amazing it felt to have one of the best players in the world playing for the Flames. A shame the team couldn't surround him with the proper supporting cast. But if they could have, minus the 2 lockouts, I would bet the farm he'd get 700.
The two lockouts eliminate roughly 50 goals from Iggy's totals, maybe a few more. He would likely have needed about another season and a half to two years after this one to get to 700.
I do think he gets to 650, but getting to 700 now probably requires playing at least another 4 seasons after this one.
From another forum, someone just posted the Hockey News draft prospects profile, for Iginla, ranking him at number 15 for the NHL draft. Here is one sentence of it, and I'm sure the Stars didn't see how great he would become when trading him (and it led to a cup for them), but Jarome can take great pride in how he beat all expectations:
"He's not likely to ever be a star, but has a good chance to be a player."

I remember being a kid in a small northern alberta town where everyone was oiler crazy. When we played street hockey we would pick which NHL stars we were. I always wanted to be iggy. Hard to believe he's still kicking it and made it to 600 goals, way to go Iginla!
