I like Long & McQuade, actually. They always have what I need and prices are reasonable. This Boxing Day Flyer is just cheesy. Why not say "we ALWAYS have good prices", or "Here's a few overstocked things we can actually sell today at even bigger discount"...

Agreed, it's where I shop as well, was just commenting on music store "sales" in general. Long and MacQuade, while being the best music store, always do the fake sale thing. I get it, they have to, they couldn't just say "same great prices for Boxing Day!" but yeah still cheesy to anyone that shops there regularly.

They are not the best music store in town. They're a terrible company that has essentially become the Canadian Wal-Mart of music retailers. I know people who have worked for that company for over 20 years. They make 35K a year. I'm going to easily clear that in my first year working at Axe. L&M also destroyed the independent/specialty music stores. There used to be a few Saxophone shops in town and they're all gone now thanks to L&M Wal-Marting everything to hell.

Also, L&M don't do any community work. Zero. None. Since I've been at Axe I have seen tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment donated for auction to raise money for so many wonderful causes.

Its the Axeobots vs The McQuadicons. Who's side are you on?

AND, Axe is having our SEA OF PINK boxing week sale, which actually does have some significant price drops. I'm worried I'm going to have to price-match myself on some things I've sold in the last month.

Details at www.axemusic.com

I don't agree with your assessment. I used to like hanging at Axe in the 90's. The atmosphere was cool and musicians liked to hang out there. But they don't come close to L&M for prices on the same items, sorry. It's not like they're selling crap while other stores cannot sell their good stuff at higher prices. Many, if not all of the salespeople at L&M are musicians. L&M gives them a chance to make extra income at what they know while playing gigs and rehearsing outside of the working hours. They know the product and they give the advice I need without overselling in every department.

After having my dishwasher failing yet again and the door on my OTR microwave falling off and broken into many plastic pieces it would seem that I am in the market.

I have also been wanting to upgrade from electric to gas range/oven.

Any advise on brands or deals that people know about?

Oilkiller- are you sure you aren't eligible? Any time I've been near the end of a contract, I've been offered the "new customer" offer; if not one better.
Haha, Ken, not sure how Oilkiller is with the mods (I know he did the "I'm leaving this site and want my account banned" thing) but he's actually been really secretive about it in public, basically flat out denying that Igster = Oilkiller.

Personally, I think it's been so long he should just say who he is, it's kind of awkward to see the same poster with the same posts about the same things do the whole "nuh uh, not me, not sure what you're talking about" routine. It would be easier if he just said "you know what? I had a bad experience before, left, but decided to give it another shot".

Anyone that bugged him before already knows who he is, and really that's the only flack he's caught since coming back, is posters kind of going "uhh dude, c'mon man, you're the EXACT same as you were under Oilkiller, everyone knows.

As much I as love the "sock puppet" discussions/guessing games (did anyone say Purple Mustang Cobra?) going down this path is a quick way to get Ken0042 to lock the thread.

Well we only need it for one more day anyways, ha! But on a serious note, yes that's fair and I wouldn't normally say anything if it was just random posters guessing or whatever.

I only mentioned it because it was a mod who called him by his old name, unprovoked, so I figured maybe Igster had a change of heart and is now okay with the obvious connection, and I just missed it.

We have had frigidaire stuff in both of our houses and the brand has served us well......however, someone will likely come along and say how fridgidaire is crap.

What is your budget

Does anyone have any suggestions for something that is like the Bose Wave system, that isn't $500? I want it to be bose-like sound quality, but with the CD, the radio, and the bluetooth and aux in. So I want a Bose wave, I just don't want to spend 500 fricken dollars on a clock radio. I can't believe that all of the ones (beats and bose) that are more like $200 do not come with radio. The clock part I can actually live without, because this is for my kitchen counter, but the radio and the bluetooth/aux and the quality sound are molto importanto.

Suggestions/links appreciated.

Edit** Or any links to Bose Wave IV that are more like $300 or less. Or anybody selling one? I can't justify having a $500 system on my kitchen counter.

Get the beats or whatever for $200ish then use the TuneIn Radio app with BlueTooth or Aux

That's a good idea, but it doesn't really work for me. I leave my radio playing in my kitchen 24/7. Only time that changes is when I switch it to ipod/aux. My current radio (Sony) has a docking station, but IDGAF about that. I want to be able to bluetooth my phone, and for my guests to be able to do the same, and for that to just be a button switch from radio to bluetooth or aux. And for the sound to be Bose/Beats quality. The Sony just doesn't piss off the neighbours like it should.

The more I think about it, the more I'm accepting that what I want should be worth a certain amount of money. Maybe $500 isn't the end of the world. But then I see 46" TVs for less than $400, and I wish that my form of entertainment was cheaper.

Why can't I have a thumping system in a tiny little box on my counter for like $200? Thanks Obama. Or Notley. Or Santa. Buncha dicks.

What about a powered bookshelf speaker(s) instead of a dock system?

I would like to stay in the $3500- $4000 ball park for the three items. I want good quality stuff just not top end professional kitchen equipment.

Not sure about the Ew comment. My neighbour brings her beats pill over here and it thumps. My buddy brings his Bose over, and ditto. I'm not looking to start a nightclub in here, I just want it to have a volume setting that I wont go up to.

As for the speakers, I appreciate the suggestion, but I need terrestrial radio. I seriously have my radio playing all the time. I know I can stream from the internet, but I'm an old balls mf'er that actually likes just having it on the radio, and to switch stations every couple of weeks. I pretty much just want to upgrade the sound and bluetooth part so that when people are here, we can just play from our phones, and for it to sound great.

Missed the radio part. Thought you were just looking for Bluetooth connectivity.
