I have pointed this out numerous times throughout this season and believe it to be much bigger of an issue than it may seem.
We had a ton of points from our D last year. I honestly believe any shot 2 feet off the ground that hits the net coming in from the point is a legitimate scoring chance. Whether it is tipped, screened on the way in or leads to a rebound, almost always it puts you on the edge of your seat.
This year has been a bunch of Phaneuf shots (to his credit, it is obvious Babcock changed this as he now takes some power off and keeps them low).
Guys are also trying to do too much on the point this year. I can vividly remember guys getting the puck on the point and wasting no time letting a quick snapper go. This year it seems that guys want to walk the line and wait for the perfect shot which simply allows the other team to collapse and block the shot.
Then we have the flames PP. Objective A,B & C is feed the point for a shot. Then the shot is either going to miss the net and lead to a quick dump down OR there is nobody in front of the net and the goalie picks it out of the air for the easiest save of the night.
