It's a tough time right now for us Flames fans. I for one have gotten into a habit of just recording the games and watching them after the fact. That way I can shorten the pain for myself. I call it harm reduction fandom.

I get it. You're upset. But that's just not true. We had a decade of dumpster fire starts from 2000-2010 and plenty of those years we still made the playoffs.

The team is as frustrated as you are. Like them, everyone needs to forget what's happened so far -- because you can't change it -- and focus on a fresh start. For those who remember the '04 run: Believe.

Some awesome true fans here. Don't come back when this team gets fun to watch again. Be it this season or next Or the one after that.

Ride the ups and downs.

Well said. If you can't stay positive as a fan how do you expect the players to do it? Go flames go! Flames win 4-1.

At what point will Hartley decide to demonstrate accountability and bench a regular starter that is not a bubble 4th line forward or 3rd pairing D.
There is more give a damn from the fans than some of these players. 11,21,6,4.

Flames come out and dominate for a full 60 minutes with a 4-0 victory.

This game is looked back at as the game that turned the season around for Calgary.

If this keeps up Hartley is gone for sure, the problem is the mantra "always earned, never given" has the opposite effect when the head coach is doing the opposite.

I didn't realize there was a fact or stat that captured "magic". my comment was based on a visualization of what i've seen on the ice from the last couple of games i've watched. The only thing lost is with you.

I hope we see both Russell and Raymond given the press box for tonights tilt with the coilers. However it's Hartley so both prolly be in the line up and russell can cost the team another couple goals. Ramo being Ramo will give up at least one deflating softie. and we'll lose this one in a train wreck.

I want to be less negative but the Flames have not shown anything beyond a mild flicker of what they were like last season. This isn't regression the advanced fancy stat pencil pushers speak of. This is a team in a rebuild. This is the Painful side of that process. We as fans all asked for a rebuild. We got that. Now we need to stay strong and support our team even when they are playing like muppets in a fire drill gone wrong.

My head hurts more from watching Russell get 20 min of ice time and some time on the PP as well after playing like hot garbage the entire season. Now I like Hartley, but my temper gets dangerously frayed whenever I see something like that.

Russell scores a hat trick and climbs up a ladder at centre ice to grab a briefcase dangling from the Jumbotron containing an 8 year-contract extension.

Flames lose 10-3.

We are really missing Bouma and Ferland. I have to believe the Flames are fuming about things right now and this is the perfect opportunity to stick it to the Oilers. Come out and play a full game and never quit! If they do that the Oilers will crumble and the good guys win 5-1.

It's our night. With our scary defence, spooky goaltending and invisible scoring depth, were sure to have some fans screaming

McDavid lights up our amateur goaltending. Oilers making the Flames no good...6-1.

yeah, well, I expect guys getting paid millions of dollars to play with a little bit of passion and urgency, regardless of what joe lunch pail might be thinking or saying on a free internet message board.

but hey, that's just me.

Man, all of you fair weather fans are worse than the oiler and nuck fans you all harp on for being fickle. It's 11 games into the season for crying out loud! We were always going to be in tough making the playoffs this year. This is what happens in a rebuild, ups and downs. We're still a team trying to figure things out.

This isn't a coaching issue, it's part of maturation process, coupled with some bad luck, terrible goaltending and puck management. There's no way this team finishes last in the west. Besides, outside of the kings nobody is running away with the pacific division yet and there's still 70 games to play.

What's the over/under on the number of McJesus costumes in the crowd tonight?

Flames win 5-4, Johnny Hockey scores all 5.

Got to wonder if a big loss tonight, after last night, will really start to put the heat on Hartley. Owners cannot ignore last year and see such a big step back so far this year. Yes we were expecting some things to even out but this is a huge set back so far.

Bennett is going to absolutely blow up McDavid tonight the first time they are on the ice together. From there on out the Flames are all over the place leaving nothing but little Oil stains on the ice.

7-1 Calgary. Ramo meets his 1 soft goal per game.
