1-0 Flames in OT
Goal by Ortio, when NYI shoots the puck into their own net on a delayed penalty.

I believe when they were planning the Barkley Centre the Islanders were offered a chance to get in on it but declined. Now they end up with this mess. Typical Islanders management.

Yes, the Islanders aren't going to draw near enough to have to worry about the seats with the poor sight lines. 3/4 of the seats are fine, which is really all they need, and likely provides just as much if not more seating that the old rink did, but with the added benefit of a state of the art brand new arena with appropriate facilities and concourse, etc...
Don't get me wrong, I agree with the other poster who pointed out that the Isles had a chance to get in on making that rink fully appropriate for both hockey and basketball and choosing not to was a mistake. But not sure they are worse off in Brooklyn than they are in their old rink, I'd say they are probably better off in the long run.

Anybody know if Nakladal laces up tonight?

With teams like Chicago, Vancouver, and Anaheim sitting on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, it's time for an upstart team like the Calgary Flames - currently 7 points back in the wildcard race - to make a move. Huge two points on the line tonight!
...sigh...

No skate this morning and the most Hartley said was that there could be line up changes but they may be game time decisions. May not even know until after the pre game skate.

Interesting - I can't really see any reason not to play him tonight. Its gonna be tough to get him in after Brodie comes back and he is deserving of a shot. Nothing to lose right now. Brodie is going to come back and Nakladal will be sent back down without getting a start.

Except Montreal has 100.1% attendance, Chicago has 110% attendance, and attendance% is a silly measure if you can average 110%. Unless that's where the sports cliche came from.

Attendance without avg. ticket price to compliment is very stupid measure. I couldn't care less how many people show up in the rink if the team is selling $10 tickets.

when I was there last month, I was told that the same owners of the Barclays now owns the Long Island Coliseum and is planning on renovating it and eventually having the Islanders move back - not sure how true that is - just rumours from hanging around the rink.
The Barclay center has some pretty cool features but it definitely is not made for hockey. The hockey TV announcers are sitting on a table in the middle of the fans in the lower deck

Either a total idiot designed that building or he flat out hates every sport other than basketball. You literally can't play any sport that the floor size is bigger than basketballs.

Hoping Ortio has a great game! That being said, it's not like Hiller is chopped liver here. It's like the mullets saying that McDavid is better than Crosby. I think the player that has shown up as a professional with the ongoing career is the higher ranked player currently. Everything for hope, beliefs, and feelings are well... just emotional and not solid.
Edit: Not just to your post specifically; you were just first of the Ortio comments.

We've only had to wait 8 games of horrible goaltending to finally see Ortio.. Here's to him showing up to be our Dark Knight just like last year!

7-1 Islanders, it seems like everything that can go wrong this season will go wrong.
I had a lot of hope last night for the Flames and for the first 2 periods they played very well, but when the wheels came off they came off hard.
2nd night of a back to back, a team with zero confidence, can this be approaching rock bottom?

Being blown out by the Oilers at home was rock bottom.

a Seven spot by the rookie. And we can start dreading what terrible panic trades begin. So lets' try for a bit of optimism and somehow still lose. 4-3 to the islanders. Ideal world Flames win 6-0 with it being the Joni and Johnny show.
