This is important if you have uncircumcised boys:
http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/
The prepuce of boys may be tight until after puberty.1,7,8 This is an entirely normal condition and it is not phimosis. According to the experience in cultures where circumcision is uncommon, this tightness rarely requires treatment. Spontaneous loosening usually occurs with increasing maturity.1,7,8 One may expect 50 percent of ten-year-old boys; 90 percent of 16-year-old boys; and 98-99 percent of 18 year-old males to have full retractable foreskin. Treatment is seldom necessary. If treatment should be necessary, it should not be done until after puberty and the male can weigh the therapeutic options and give informed consent.8
It is important to note that the immature foreskin of a child must not be forced back for "cleaning" or for any other reason, because this will cause damage to the developing tissues. The child should be instructed that his foreskin will eventually retract. The first person to retract the foreskin should be the child himself.
Don't force the foreskin back before it is ready. This happens spontaneously at different ages for each boy. Also, the head should not be washed with soap - only water.

Yikes, I remember having to do that when I was young, it was the wisdom at the time. It was not pleasant.

Same. Amazing how this type of information changes just 15 years later.

How are young lads supposed to wash under the 4skin before it loosens up?

I guess the implication would be that they don't need to? Which kind of makes sense. Until you're sticking it into things, there's not much that can get under there. Perhaps pulling it back to clean actually causes sanitary problems if it's not completely dried or cleaned properly.

You can still stretch it open from the front and get a finger or two in there; more elastic than forcing it backwards if its tight. Like a chinese finger trap almost....

I can't believe how much I don't know about dicks. I'm cut myself, but am keenly interested in this as my son isn't and I'm never quite sure if I'm giving proper care instructions. Some really helpful posts in here.

The death was not caused by the snip, it was caused by poor medical help. People are missing the actual cause of the death by debating if it is barbaric or not to chop a baby's hose.

I don't put circumcision in the same light as vaccination in that the parent's choice either way isn't likely to have much of a bearing on the child's welfare and safety. The pros and cons to me are all pretty negligible. I was born in Europe so I didn't get circumcised and when we had our first boy I actually wanted him to get snipped because of my experience while not bad I believe it's a pain in the but to clean at times and I did when I was younger get it infected once and it sucked. Most women prefer circumcised so IMO that's a positive in your boy's journey in his adult life and relationships.
That said my wife was against it because of the gross pictures they show you at child birth classes so we left him alone and my second boy the same. When my oldest turned five he started having a lot of issues with his penis being sore all the time, burning when urinating, and the problem was his foreskin hole was extremely small. Impossible to retract and restricting the flow of urine so he had to get circumcised which isn't a very nice ordeal at that age as he was very sore for a week. So now we have two boys, one circumcised and the other not. Kind of wish I got my way in the beginning.

Sorry to hear about your one son having trouble! That being said, it seems like there are more and more treatment options for conditions that may be similar so a surgical procedure may not be necessary.
As for the aesthetic aspect, I've already touched on that, but consider what men "prefer" and contemplate making those same decisions for your daughter. Doesn't seem like a compelling reason to do something for me, and frankly if it is the sole reason, seems quite over the top.
An excerpt on phimosis I found that was interesting, link will be below it.
" Circumcision was the mainstay of treatment for pathologic phimosis. With advent of newer effective and safe medical and conservative surgical techniques, circumcision is gradually getting outmoded. Parents and doctors should a be made aware of the noninvasive options for pathologic phimosis for better outcomes with minimal or no side-effects."
" Analyses of medical records carried out in England and Western Australia revealed that medically indicated circumcisions were seven times more than the expected incidence of phimosis in children less than 15 years of age [2, 3]; implying thereby that there is a high rate of unnecessary circumcisions [4]. The operation of circumcision is not devoid of adverse effects and also has a huge economic impact"
And just to be clear, I'm obviously not saying you did the wrong thing (who am I to say/judge that?) but merely showing that there are often other ways around things that might come up in this realm that can be as effective or moreso than circumcision without the permanent procedure.

Even if this was true, it's literally the worst possible reason to do something like this. Would you support boob implants or a clit ring for a daughter because "dudes dig it"? Even if she was an adult at the time, I doubt most parents would be happy with those choices.
It's fine to think this way about your own deal. If it gives you that little extra confidence boost, great. But it's no reason to do it to a newborn without their consent. If they want to do it when their older, whether for some perceived aesthetic issue, or a health concern, go for it, just like the above scenarios.
People do a lot worse things to their junk (and their bodies overall), but they do so by choice.

The only reason why "chicks dig it" is because a generation of women in this part of the world grew up with it as being "normal". Given enough time, it probably won't be a factor.
Do chicks "dig it" in countries where it isn't "normal"? I doubt it. Just like in some African countries, stretched necks or obesity are considered desirable traits.

When erect, there is essentially no difference in appearance. So if a chick is shallow enough to like or not like a guy based on the appearance of his wiener when flaccid, well my friend you should probably stay away from her in the first place.
I just have a hard time accepting that the minute a boy is born there is something inherently wrong with is physical form and it needs to be "fixed". Seems odd to me.

Is chicks dig it a real thing?
I mean has any uncut person ever not gotten a blow job or sex because when their pants came off they were uncut.
This has never happened.

No kidding, not just for this but for anything. Has anyone ever gotten to the point of nudity and had their partner look them up and down and just go "nope"? Unless you have an STI, and thus a legitimate reason to not continue, that person is just a straight biatch/doosh.

It's weird how many practices involve cutting off parts of the body. Like tonsils, or appendixes. You'd think nature and evolution wouldn't give us 'extra' body parts...
I mean, if there is a problem, of course you remove them. But I don't think we'd evolve parts we don't need. Unless it's somehow vestigial? I think they did find out though, that tonsils and the appendix do serve a (albeit small) purpose. They both bolster the immune system and combat certain infections. Perhaps why they get infected themselves.
