Good goaltending will give you a chance to steal a wim or a point when you're not playing well. It was ordinary at best tonight.

Who said it was? I'm saying we lost a point and maybe two because of That goal.

Not blaming goaltending but the team has to face facts and send them one of the tenders down. Ortio most certainly will start tomorrow, and if he is decent, eject one of the other two.
I have to wonder with the new faces, and the three headed monster, threre might be some goofy karma happening right now. Again not blaming the goaltenders but Flames should make things as normal as possible and hit reset ASAP.

They may have won games like this last season, but it doesn't mean they deserved to. Like tonight, they were trash, and lost. Some people want to focus on the goal, which was bad, because it's easier to accept that than the fact that we were brutal.
That's fine, but that doesn't mean it's the real reason.

His pad position was amateur on that goal. I can't believe how fundamentally poor that was having his pad on the ice into the net leaving that gap against the post essentially leaving an easy bank shot. I will say up until the point he was winning me over with solid play but then he does that and you just wonder what's wrong with him and why does he always let in these odd ball goals.

Trying to stay positive here, Frolik looked good again. Several solid PK showings by him, and he seems to be great for possession.

I couldn't watch the game as it's not broadcast where I am but sounds like the whole team needs to do a little look in the mirror and ask themselves how bad they want to win. I can't handle another few years of mediocre effort circa Iginla and friends.
Ortio is the best of the 3, agree with the rest saying start him tomorrow. Face the facts and make it happen already. Monahan needs to step up here too in a big way. But at the end of the day, the Jets in my opinion are a great and probably better team overall.

Mmm. The Flames issues rested in the offensive zone. Terrible passing, poor board work for he most part. I think the Flames were solid defensively in their own zone and covered up the turn overs very well. Their D play earned them a point tonight. Their offensive suckage cost them a point tonight. Ramo brainfarting cost them all the points tonight. Fair breakdown? I think so.

Despite the lack of shots the Flames did have a few nice opportunities where they flat out missed the net. Backlund, Monahan, and Gaudreau come to mind with point blank chances that they missed badly and you have to make those count or at least make the goaltender earn the save. As others have said the passing was brutal and I would rather see pucks on net than fancy passes that result in turnovers or no opportunities.

Absolutely the Flames played a crap game. A few stretches of good play, then lots of opportunities to shoot passed up for a weak pass that was invariably picked off easily and led to an odd man rush the other way. I don't know how many 2-1, 3-2 we gave up, not counting the lovely 2-0 we gave up, but that was a pretty unimpressive game by most of the team.
Having said that, the game winning goal in the last 2 minutes of the third period was pathetic, on several fronts. Horribad giveaway by Johnnie. It wasn't close to anyone. Craptastic effort to pinch out Big Buff by Wideman. He basically stood still and held out his stick like a frightened girl. And worst of all, a goal that could be stopped by a pee wee goalie. That was not a good shot, or a nifty deck. It was just.... pathetic. And it cost us at least a point.
If the Flames can't seem to muster more than 20 minutes of effort tomorrow, the Coilers will beat them, and will technically pass them in the standings. Let that sink in for a minute.

Despite adding Hamilton and Frolik, the Flame are still a small team.
This is something they will have to address sooner or later.

Send Ramo to the minors, nobody is going to claim him. It's the lack of a starter causing our team to play like a bunch of greasers, you can't play a team game when the team has zero faith in their goalie.
Every one is too antsy and hesitant so all the decisions are a fraction of a second behind. Send Ramo down and let Ortio steal the starting spot, odds are he'll be better than either other guys.

Not sure why FerlAnd is getting PP time or is on as the extra attacker in the final minutes. Dude has shown nothing this season.

They aren't losing because of size. They made the playoffs last season and won a round. They are losing because they aren't playing well and the goaltending has been substandard. The last thing we need is the GM trading players to upgrade size as some sort of knee jerk reaction.

I don't see this 10 minutes thing. I think the Jets took control of the third as it went on, but the game was up for grabs the entire way. I think as a team this was probably the most complete effort by the Flames this season.

I don't think the odds of the Oilers beating the Flames tomorrow is very high. Yes I understand that the pooped he bed to start the season. However, if they don't come off that plane with a Terminator mentality tonight, they may as well kiss their season goodbye.
I have a feeling past tomorrows win, we'll see. These Flames are playing way below their talent, but I have seen flashes. They just need to wake up, and they will catch fire. Hopefully hey don't have to play elite hockey for 6 months just to squeak in again.

Good way to put it Flames show up for 10 min.
Really lame showing by the Forwards.
D played well enough to win if the offence didn't fall asleep for last 2 periods.
Ramo played decent but that winning goal was aweful and especially the time of the game.
No screen, clean look and he practically sitting in his own net he is so far back.
No Goalie is outright winning the job.
Hiller or Ortio for sure tomorrow.
Lets see if the Flames can even put 2 periods of effort in offence together. Disappointing hockey so far.
