With the team either having to demote Granlund or waive Jooris/Raymond/Bollig it is safe to say Clagary will not put a claim on

Agreed. If someone believes we need bottom line size and grit, we have Hathaway who is supposed to be a Bouma type guy but RW.
I can see why some people may want him, but IMO, we should be making quantity for quality transactions, not accumulating more bottom 6.

Trade turns into Prust for a 5th. Still a good deal for the Habs

And the first year of Virtanen's contract, given they'd probably just send him back to the Hitmen at that point.

Keep Kassian away from the Flames. Never ever liked his game. He's got size and thats about it.
Glad to see he's recovered from these issues though. On a human level its always cool to see someone come out of addiction clean and healthy. Lets see if it sticks.

I could see the Oilers taking a chance on him, the risk is that he could still prove to be a loose cannon and have the addictions issues rear their ugly head again, in which case you just cut him from the team and send him to the ECHL or somewhere as far away from your team as possible, but at the same time their lineup still needs muscle that can play the game (sorry Gazdic) at least a little bit.
I still doubt that anyone takes a chance on him though which is understandable.

No, no... it was the Canucks who gave Montreal the 5th rounder. Even a better deal for the Habs.
Edit - I misread your post; I thought you were saying the Canucks got the 5th; my bad.

Five years was way too long.

Does anyone have a video of this?

18 is cutting it close since he is almost 25.

Wonder if the Oilers put in a claim? They strike me as a team that could use a guy like that. And he's a Chairelli pick iirc

Kassian was a Sabres draft pick.

If there was ever a time that I could see Brian Burke pull rank and force a move this is the time.
If there ever was a Brian Burke "type" Zack Kassian is that type.
I have been clean and sober for 15 years and I know how my potential and ability to improve skyrocketed once I sobered up. I think Kassian has a lot to give and I won't be disappointed if it's the Flames that give him the chance.

I'll take that chance on a "clean and sober" Kassian. When he becomes that though, not in the hope he does

What was wrong with signing Bertuzzi?

Nothing at all, I was thrilled that the Flames brought in a guy who almost killed someone on the ice.

Despite that ugly incident, I didn't have a problem signing him. He was a contributing player.
Dany Heatly and Craig MacTavish ACTUALLY killed people with their stupid actions, and they continued playing.
