I have high hopes for this season. Hopefully the first episode isn't a let down.

In a big surprise, Vytas Baskaukas is the first one out! I thought he'd go a lot further in the game, personally.

I really like Stephen, but he looks doomed. It doesn't look good for him being placed in a tribe full of alpha males, combined with his reputation. He's gotta survive the first few votes and hope for a swap.
Loved the way the season started with the race for the supplies. The immunity idol being hidden at the challenge made great TV - Kelley Wentworth is in a good spot. It looks like old school vs new school is going to be the big theme to start.
Vytas has no self awareness at all, there was nothing charming about his flirting.

I'm really hoping that they are setting up the story line for the season with his edit so far. An "underdog out of his element overcomes all on his second attempt at the game" ala Cochran (he's even getting last-named from Probst).

Strong opening episode, loved the supply rush off the bat. Vytas was giving off a used car salesman vibe it was more creepy than anything. I liked him as a player but just to much to soon. Looks like Abi will be back to her ways after two days, it was fun watching her walk around camp trying to breath deeply lol.
This looks to be a really good cast, lots of strong players. Kelly had a great move there, so ballsy and it paid off so far.

Ok, now that I've had a chance to watch the episode instead of just the Tribal...I'm liking what I see. I also watched the 1/2 hour ET special, and I like what they are going to do with Immunity Idols this season. I think that was a great move by Kelly for the Immunity Idol, and I think it's going to be interesting to watch people who find those hints try to jockey themselves around in the challenge to put themselves into a good spot to get an Idol. Also, the more people who figure out there are Idols in the challenges, the more tension around the camp, since they all know how many challenges there are..and is there/has there been an Idol at each one that has or has not been found?
I'm liking what I see so far this season!

Heh, yeah... the "last name" treatment by Probst is a tell as to who he (Probst) really likes. All his favs get the last name treatment.
I listen to RHAP and they've (Rob and Company) been really down on Stephan's chances. They have more of a rooting interest in Stephan then anyone so if they're down on him then it's really bad for him. Apparently of all the Survivor alum that he's really close with none were on voteable list and of those on the cast that he'd have the best "in" with they're all on the other tribe.

Great first episode. Exciting, entertaining, dramatic... everything you could ask for in a season debut.
Props:
Kelley Wentworth - Better episode for her then every episode of San Juan Del Sur she was in combined. Ballsy Idol grab (love hiding it at challanges), on the right side of the numbers, looks to be a solid part of the New School Alliance.
Jeff Varner - He's older, he's out of shape, but he's still vintage Varner and vintage Varner is great TV.
Jeremy Collins- Looks to be playing a better version of his last game. Last game he surrounded himself with non-threats and thus became the biggest threat now he's trying to be surrounded by folk that will be good allies but all bigger targets.
Honorable Mention: Shirin - Didn't seem to be geeking out/annoying people and looked to be the driving force behind the Vytas vote.
Slops:
Stephan Fishbach- Rough, rough, rough start. Bad draw right out of the gate
Kelly Wiglesworth - Blew the challange on the wrong side of the vote
Abi-Marie Gomes- Same old Abi, If she's that close to exploding on day 1 she's in trouble.

watched it last night.
I don't think there will be any fallout from the vote because everyone knows Abi has to be gone next because she is such a nutcase.
Surprised Vytas is gone so early. Really strange game play from him.
I picked Tasha and Varner, but also like Keith and Woo. And wigglesworth. Lots of people to cheer for this episode.

i liked the first season challenge. I'm hoping they do this for every season the cast were from. Puts the pressure on that guy to outdo their past performance. It's a nice little twist.

not a fan how that turned out...
by default, they should've voted out the headcase first which they all knew was Abi
Also, you should never eliminate a healthy male early in the competition otherwise you handicap your own tribe from winning challenges
Good tactic from Jeremy for keeping Joe around as a meat shield

I think if you have a solid second person, you want your tribe to go to Tribal first.
Russell Hantz set the playbook for how to game survivor, Chaos to start with, vote out the tribe members that aren't solid with your group and wait for the merge.

Personally, I didn't invest too much stock into Ciera for our draft. She was in my bottom 5 to be honest. Joe is a challenge beast and should be higher IMO. Might bump Wentworth up a bit just knowing that she has an idol already.
Everything else looks pretty on par.

On a normal season this would be true... but this is not a normal season.
The thing to remember is that all these people already know each other. They had alliances before they stepped out on the beach not only within their own tribe but on the other tribe. So look at it this way, if you have a majority on your beach + you have allies on the other beach why wouldn't you vote out strong competition on your own tribe? You get rid of the post-merge competition and keep your allies on the other tribe safe.

Shirin Ooskin gets sent off. Can't say I'm surprised or upset about this one. Can't wait to watch the episode.

There's gonna be a lot of "can't believe they're gone already" when you have a season of so many very good players. Lots of emotion out there too, you can tell it's weighing on them that they don't want to let their fans down.

No Kidding... there's been more crying in the past two episode than there was all last season.
