Don't know why you'd single me or my post out. It's been going on since page two, I didn't start it, nor am I the only one discussing it.
Eye roll
Because of all the posters off topic, you are the only one I can recall that calls people out for it.
I don't care it went off topic, it just seems hypocritical you would partake in the off topicedness when you have called me and others out for it in the past.
I just think it's funny. Like how my dad says youth is so self-entitled, yet bitches and moans about how little he gets for his old age pension... when in reality, he's set for life.
Sad to see the same couple of Iginla haters doing their thing as per usual. All that's missing is a Tinordi drive-by and then the circle is complete.
Too bad the best captain in the league couldn't prevent half the team from drinking for two days straight during the playoffs. What a rotten roster the best captain in the league had to deal with.

Get him pissed off at you and he'll follow you around making dickish backhanded comments about everything.
Then you'll have to block for him for a few months, yeah he'll make comments still and you'll see people respond to it but be strong for the hatred of mmf is not everlasting, it's more like a temporary annoyance. He's a very spiteful and negative person that disguises it with self righteousness, don't take it too personally.
I remember that trade deadline when we got him. That's probably the most excited for a trade I'd ever been. We finally got a top tier centre and it looked to be the final cog.
Cammalleri - Jokinen - Iginla
That season was something else. That was the best Calgary Flames team I've seen as an active fan, but those injuries killed us. They decimated the team. What happened the following summer has to be one of the worst off-seasons for any team in the lockout era. So many bad decisions were made.

When Jokinen was traded to Calgary from Phoenix, ex-NHL player Matthew Barnaby had told stories to the media, how Jokinen was a bad teammate in the NHL.
"Yeah, apparently I was a ####ty guy.
Not that I take Barnaby at his word and Barnaby comes across as a complete jerk but maybe Jokinen not partying with the boys was partly what led to this story.

"Drinking for two days straight" or 3-4 drinks after dinner. Nobody knows the truth on this board, it's all just hearsay

When you came down the wing on a 3-on-3 attack and shot the puck. You came to the bench and '99' would ask 'What did you do?'. I said I got a good shot on net. He would say 'No, no! You turn around and pass to the third wave. Not the first defenseman that comes behind, but the second. There you throw the pass.' I thought to myself 'I can't see that ####.'
Loved this quote, had me laughing good.

I remember that series against Chicago very well. There was absolutely no emotion, spirit or tenacity to that team during the playoffs which was hard to watch after the amazing regular season they had. They were definitely dialed out mentally as much as they were physically injured. Whether or not half the team was getting drunk during that series is true remains unverified but anyone could see that the body language of the team was totally listless on the ice.

Except for when Cammi threw that nasty elbow off the face off. That was during this series right?

I don't really remember it being an amazing regular season. I remember having like a 15 point division lead on the Canucks (and two games in hand) at the end of January, only to lose the division by seasons end.

After acquiring Jokinen we finished the season 8-11. Not great rolling into the playoffs.

It was an amazing season up until that road trip after the trade deadline. I remember where the wheels fell off. we were the only team to beat the presidents cup winning Sharks at home that year

I believe the skid started even before that, as Jokinen was acquired in early March. That 15ish point lead had already been cut in half by that point.
And sorry, but in my opinion, I don't think beating the Sharks at home makes an amazing season. Again, if you lose a 15 point lead with 30 games to go, it kind of negates a single victory in an 82 game season.

I think it speaks to the value of leaders who can rally the troops and get commitment/buy in off the ice as opposed the leaders who do their "speaking" on the ice.
What sets Giordano apart as a leader is that he can do both.
