I'm not seeing that. I've responded directly to each post directed towards me with my own refutation.
Again, because I'm on the unpopular side of the argument I'm seen as parroting a narrative/agenda, when in reality my point is just concise.
A private entity can control it's own content. The only thing keeping them from exercising control is public opinion/disinterest. Therefore, they are complicit in their content.

Yes precisely what I was saying. Just like anything in life it's your decision to choose what you engage in, on the internet or not. I don't see why we should stop engaging in subjects on Reddit just because there is a choice to engage in some ####ty subjects.
I believe.

You must have some pretty level-headed kids if this is a tantrum.
Top trending meme on Reddit atm yesterday

Is the irony of a bunch of people who defend reddit on grounds that the internet should be a haven for free speech collectively jumping on a guy for exercising his right to freely express his opinion lost on everyone?

Free speech gives you the right to say something, not that people can't call you an ####### for what you say.

It seems that there's little criticism of what he's saying. Mostly just criticism of the fact that he's saying it more often than people want to hear.
"I disagree with what you say, but will fight to the death your right to say it" is a defense of free speech.
"I disagree with what you say, and really wish you'd shut up about it" is not.

Yeah, so?
The guy hasn't been on topic the entire thread, saying the same thing over and over. The thread was about something that happened on Reddit a couple days ago and how the moderators there reacted. It wasn't a thread started so PsYcNeT could go on the same rant he's done in previous threads over the last couple years again.
I mean, I guess we should to give him credit for switching gears and talking about Imugr? (wtf).
PsYcNeT being PsYcNeT unfortunately though, any good point he raises are lost in his obsessive noise.

As I said in my first post, a day or two and this blows over
Nothing on the front page as of right now, pretty much back to normal. Add it the to the large list of reddit revolts that fade out quickly.
People just want to look at funny/informative/whatever posts, not drama

it goes to show that despite what the admins on reddit have done to piss off it's nerd base customers, the nerds realize after a day the void in their lives if they decide to cut out time wasters like Reddit.
i think many of us feel the same way on CP

How do you differentiate reddit form google.
Google allows you to search for whatever you want and profits from it. It does not care if your search allows you to coordinate with other racists etc. It only filters if you tell it to.
Or how do you differentiate reddit from an ISP. Shaw allows you to do whatever you want on the internet and only provides law enforcement with what it's legally obligated to. Shaw profits from the dark side of the internet.
Or how about a phone company. It allows people to converse about whatever they want without any moderation of the content and takes profit from it.
The medium used to have the conversation is not responsible for the message contained within the conversation.

I was going to leave this thread alone, so I'll just simply point out that none of your examples are content hosts, only portals, while Reddit hosts content (and is a portal as well).

You have drawn an arbitrary line at hosting content. I don't see an ethical difference between hosting content and providing easy access to said content.
Both profit off objectionable content and could do something about it but choose not to

The law doesn't differentiate between hosting content and linking content, so why do you?

Petition asking for Ellen Pao's resignation is almost at 200k signatures. She apparently doesn't understand anything about damage control as she still has yet to address any of the community she has pissed off directly instead has just been talking to the press. Bit out of touch perhaps.
http://money.cnn.com/2015/07/06/tech...ine-ellen-pao/
https://www.change.org/p/ellen-k-pao...-of-reddit-inc
So far she has done the following in her time as CEO:
-She fired the popular lady that ran AMAs and completely mishandled the fallout
-She fired a dude that was recovering from cancer.
-She fired the reddit secret santa guy.
-She force all employees to relocate to expensive San Francisco.
-She tried to censor news about her failed discrimination/defamation lawsuit against her former employer when it show on reddit
http://www.reddit.com/r/news/comment...eaches/cstzkd7
Seems a bit of a trainwreck so far in her very short time as the boss.
