There goes Chicago clearing the cap. With the money they are paying Toews & Kane, plus Duncan Keith, Keith Seabrook, Patrick Sharp and others i think we might see some more trades for prospects or draft picks. I am thinking Sharp is going to be next. Next season we will see a much different Blackhawks team.
Anyone know an equivalent from us that would match what Columbus sent over?
Flames don't really have anything equivalent to Anisimov. Big bodied center that is close to a 20/20 guy most seasons. Maybe best way to put it is Anisimov is what Flames fans hope Colborne can be.
Dano is roughly equivalent to Poirier. Some might say Dano is better.
Morin is a former high pick that wanted out of Chicago in the 1st place because Quennville wasn't using him (likely due to lack of defensive commitment). Put up decent points in the AHL but still struggling to find consistent scoring touch in the NHL. Flames equivalent = Baertschi.
Tropp = 4th line winger. Maybe close to replacement level player.

They might have been able to keep Saad if they had found buyers for Bickell and Sharp.

He definitely is. Dano could very well become a better player then Saad

I had to work, so I have had time to think about this move...on 'Hawk boards, there is an even split, between guys that have the Tar, Feathers, and Pitchforks out for Bowman, and guys that recognize that if it got to offer sheets, then Bowman was boned...
I posted the following on BHZ....
I had said that I thought that the "home town" discount, and the "winning is more important than cash" opinions were over optimistic...the question is whether 3 picks would have been better than taking ON the $3 million or so that we add with this deal...
As far as the incoming talent, Antisimov is ok, and as a replacement for Richards, serviceable...rumor has Stan trying to extend him...Dano is supposed to be highly skilled guy...Morin has an express ticket to Q's doghouse, and I just shrug at re-acquiring the guy...Tropp is a warm body for the Rock...
As far as the outgoing talent...Saad is a very good, young, player, it is too bad that a "bridge" contract couldn't be negotiated. Moving him to the East, for now, was a reasonable move, and not sitting on offer sheets, shows that Stan had no confidence that he could match, nor did it show that he felt that he could swing an extension for Saad...Paliotta seems excessive to give up, if, the BJs weren't going to be force fed a bad contract to boot...Broadhurst is a smallish, young, Center for THEIR AHL squad...and their 4th round pick, is, well, a 4th round pick, a chip to keep or move.
There is also no guarantee that this is just an intermediate move, and AA or Morin doesn't get flipped also...
We all knew that Saad's next contract could cause a cap crisis, and losing him is squarely due to overpaying Bickell, and that is on, IMO, Stan. But, as good as Saad is, or can be, it has to be remembered that he was only 23-29-52 often with ELITE guys, and is not YET, an ELITE NHL forward himself.
