Boston finally wins a trade and looking at the big picture the Lucic trade seems much better.

Yeah, I'm not sure why San Jose is trading their 1st rounder at all. Maybe the plan is to go all in on free agents tomorrow but I still think they will be really bad next year.

Forget playing Ortio next year -- we should start developing some undrafted free agent backup goalies next year. Between Talbot and now the return on Jones, its like printing money people!

The first round pick will probably be around 15 -20 so I wouldn't say it was a win for Boston. The Bruins will have to wait years to see that pick in their roster.

Kevin Kurz @KKurzCSN
Martin Jones deal done. Three years, $9 million #SJSharks

Not bad for an undrafted kid

That lucky SoB. $3M/year to live in San Jose behind a decent, if not great team while that poor basterd Talbot has to slave away in Edmonton for less than half that.

If I owned Hell and Edmonton I'd rent Edmonton out and live in Hell.

Am I missing something here? Why are people so high on Jones? How in the world did he warrant a first rounder esp with the return Lack got... Hell, even Talbot's return seems reasonable now...
4-5-2 with a .906 save percentage last year.. Sure his numbers were better the previous season but a) small sample size b) was playing behind a good d that year..
I'm glad we didn't get him, because this screams of Scrivens 2.0...

Haha.. You must've misunderstood me... I'm only criticizing the Sharks here... I just don't understand how he was worth that much...

I agree it's grand larceny by the Bruins... Well.. Guessed it evened out a bit after what we did to them

I am not saying Boston is making good team building decisions at the moment but 2 1st rounders for a player a year away from FA is not that bad a deal. Also, the Sharks picked 9th this season and my guess is the 2016 1st will be closer to 6-10. This trade is by far the highest return of any of the goalie trades so far.

Oh, and it's funny how San Jose was once the goalie factory shipping out backups for draft picks but are now the team giving up a possibly high 1st for another team's backup.

Do you really think that a tandem of Jones and Stalock will be good enough to get the Sharks into the playoffs? I'd say there's a better chance San Jose's first pick next year is top-10 than 15-20.
