If that's the case then great. I took as more of "the weight that weighs the line down" type of thing. Which, of course, would just not be accurate.

If you look at the overall numbers, Stone had more pts in fewer games. He also had a better +/- and played better 5 on 5 and shorthanded. Stone simply had a better season than Forsberg. It would also be easy to argue that he had a better season than Gaudreau.
I would say that Stone had better linemates to work with though. Ottawa had two go-to-lines with Ryan-Hoffman-Zibanejad. Gaudreau was an anchor on the one-line Flames.
|
Nope. Gaudreau was much more impressive. The kid came straight from college and put up 64 pts. Stone played 2 years of pro hockey, including 24 NHL games. That's a significant difference. And he is younger.
People point to Ekblad > Klingberg because of age and experience, why shouldn't that hold true for Gaudreau and Stone?
If JH doesn't win, I hope Ekblad takes it. I can't stand those obnoxious Sens fans on HF.

If age has any relevance it should be Ekblad without a doubt. He plays a much harder position anyway and what he did at 18 is incredible, one of the best seasons ever by defenseman at that age.

People will pay money to watch Gaudreau. No one will pay money just to watch Stone. Gaudreau has that excitement factor that Stone doesn't have. No contest in my books.

No real hockey fan pays money to watch one player. They pay to watch their favorite team or to watch hockey in general. I've never heard of someone dropping $$$ to watch one player play a third of a game.

That's not true.
When Crosby and Ovechkin first started in the league and played their first game in Calgary, fans wanted to go see them and not their team.

For years I watched and went to Flames games because of Theo Fluery and only Theo Fluery. Lot's of people did back in the day.

I agree, there's a reason clubs want the superstars. They draw crowds.
How many fair weather fans in edmonton have already ordered McJesus ?

The Sens are great at getting awards without really deserving them. They'll probably get the Norris and go 2 for 2 this year.

This award is Stone's btw. A bunch of personalities who have votes have come out and said they voted Stone.
Eastern teams. Prepare for it now.

I will be pretty pissed off if Stone wins over Johnny. I suppose I'm biased, but come on, the kid is so damn electrifying. Likely wins the scoring race if he plays the 82nd game.

If I had a vote, I would have voted for Hartley and Ekblad.
Hartley should win for sure for the job he did in Calgary. In my opinion, it shouldn't be close. Out of the two remaining candidates, Laviolette 2nd and Vigneault 3rd.
For the Calder, I think it's extremely difficult for an 18 year old defenseman to come into the league and have a season like Ekblad did. He was tremendous. Gaudreau would be 2nd, Stone 3rd for me.
