The new LED in front of house it really nice. The spread is certainly not as wide as the old yellow light but the LED doesn't light up the front of my house which is nice. I can leave the blinds open in the bedroom at night now and it would actually be dark in there.

I find that treating them more as LED thermometers, rather than busted LED lights, really improves my outlook on them. This way I know exactly when it hits -15*

You would think they could have designed them with a logic circuit that shuts it off if it isn't functioning properly.

Looks like they just cranked the brightness up on the second one.

Agreed - even the night sky is brighter with LED lights...

Seems the ones at Glenmore have finally been fixed. I remember reporting a few of them online in early December, so we are well past 30 days. I guess things are still getting done, but just a little slower than hoped.

This is where a little competition would really help. Give each light crew a section of the city to work, with the same number of lights. Then make them compete. The team with the fewest dead lights each month gets a bonus, and the team with the most dead lights gets hung from a light pole as warning to the other teams.

After weighing it up over the past couple of months, I think I prefer the older lights.
The new ones are nice and sleek looking for major thoroughfare driving, but driving down Elbow Drive with them and pedestrian crossings are almost completely blacked out. Extremely hard to see if a person is standing there waiting to cross. It probably goes against the cost effectiveness of them, but there almost needs to be more lampposts placed between the existing ones.

Every extra pole is another 12000 dollars, plus all the extra maintenance. Doesn't take much before that adds up.

I'm noticing that some sections of road are getting new LED streetlights for the second time. The replacements are bigger and I assume brighter. Maybe they are doing this because they found the light output is too low. I noticed it on Peigan around 26 St and a spot on Memorial around 36 St.
