Not sure 'possession' will improve quite that much by next year, but increasing shots is the easy answer to a drop in shooting % from this point on.
Bingo. Or, give up fewer shots, or have the goalies make a couple more saves - not that either has been a problem. This is one area I will be hoping for improvement. And hell, even if we did maintain an extreme shooting percentage, getting more shots on goal could mean the difference between a fringe playoff team and division contender.

I expect the Flames to have a better team overall next year...#### that 8 game losing streak it would have been nice to read these articles with the Flames in near the top of the standings not hanging on for dear life

Very true, but I think when all is said and done he will be an Eric Nystrom type of player, but probably a little better. A guy that has enough skills to score anywhere between 10-20 goals consistently depending on the role he's used. More of a 3rd liner would be 10-15, and as a 2nd liner 15-20.

I do agree with the "he needs to repeat it" thought, but I think he's stapled himself into the lineup as at least a 3rd line winger with upside for many, many years to come. Right alongside Backlund.

It wouldn't matter. They would just call them the next Colorado due for regression next season. These type of writers stick to analytics to explain everything, and do very little thinking outside of number crunching...and even then they aren't very complete with it. They're not often wrong, but when they are, they have a hard time admitting it.
