taste like #### (wheaty), heavy, fills you up, takes longer to get you drunk and it's overpriced.

It's because people will buy one fancy craft beer to just have with dinner, but a teener of Bud to get drunk on later. It's lighter, easier to drink, etc.

That's odd, because the majority of their beers are hoppy and a higher than average alcohol content.

I like Budweiser over all the other big names, I usually mix with clam so then they all taste the same pretty much. I also like the honey Browns and Richards white from the tap with an orange slice. I do not like anything dark or anything IPA.

Angkor is one of my least favorites in this part of the world, but Anchor is pretty good in a refreshing, fairly flavorless kind of way. The fact that they're the top 2 beers in Cambodia makes for some confusing beer orders, at least until you realize that all of the locals mispronounce Anchor as "an-chore."

I like lots of different beer that isn't named or made by Bud, Molson, Coors, etc.
My favorite go to on a thirsty, hot afternoon though is Pilsner Urquell. I could drink that stuff by the gallon.

I atteneded Uni in Prague about 10 years ago and a couple of the Czech beers, Pilsner Urquell and Krusovice anyway, were about 1$/pint at the local pub.

Nice, I'd never leave. Yeah it was actually a Czech fella I work with that turned me on to it.

Mmmmm Asahi... I drink a large amount of their products over here. So much so I've even got my name on a goblet from them

I like all types of craft beers, but I can see why someone wouldn't. Beer snobs can be as annoying as music snobs. Not everybody likes craft IPAs or stouts in the same way not everyone likes (insert hipster band name here). If Budweiser or Molson Canadian are your favorite beers, and Nickelback is your favorite band then all the power to you.

I love trying out new beers...if I go out to a pub for a couple I'll probably order something a little off the beaten path. BUT if I'm sitting out in the backyard having an all day piss up, by beer 4 or 5 I'm not even tasting what I'm drinking anymore. Doesn't matter if it's unicorn tears or Lucky Lager.
Sure, I'll have a few "good" beers at the start of the session. However, if my end goal is getting blotto around a fire I'm not going to spend $60 on 3 six packs of craft beer when I can get a 48 pack of Bud from Costco for $60.
Also, if you're my friend and you come over and i offer you a beer...you're most likely not getting the same fancy thing that I'm drinking. Why not? Because most times when I offer someone a craft beer they drink 1/4 of the bottle and decide they don't like it. That and I 'm a bad friend. And I'm cheap. Nope, if you're my friend and I offer you a beer you're getting the cheapest stuff I have or something someone left behind in my fridge.
Between beer at sporting events, camping, weddings etc I'm drinking probably 75% domestic crap. Think of it as that chubby girl you used to call late at night to come over. You know it's not the best out there, but it's cheap, it's readily available and in the end the result is the same.

I'm more of an over ice guy. Never have sugar in my drinks, I get fantastic hangovers if I do.

Liquorconnect now shows Beer Lao available at several places around the city. It was my regular beer when Co-op stocked it but no longer.

I find the craft beer vs. other beer argument funny. The music analogy is pretty accurate IMO.
I listen to a lot of indie music and most of my favourite musicians tend to be "indie-ish", but that doesn't mean that there isn't a boat load of crap indie bands out there are trying to sell that image while making a sub-par product.
Craft beer is the same. I find that the fast majority of it is nothing to write home about, but there are some real gems hidden in there that are better than the big popular brands. You just need to weed through a lot of crap to find it. And like indie music, a lot of craft beer companies are trying to sell themselves on image more than the product.
Saying you like craft beer is a really broad statement.

Craft beer is for people who like the taste of malt and hops. Domestic lager is for people who don't. That's also why people who like the domestic stuff tend to drink their beer ice-cold - you can't taste things when they're cold.

There are plenty of low IBU craft beers that are very good, and it doesn't come to craft beer being more bitter, sweet, malty etc.. It is the distinct taste, or non-taste more specifically, of the big North American lagers that turns me off of them. Basic European and Asian lagers are typically much better imo. There is no comparison imo between a Staropramen/San Miguel and Bud/Canadian. Once again though, a 6 of the former will likely be almost double the price around Calgary.

This.
I'm almost convinced that people who drink stuff like Bud and Kokanee don't even like beer. They just like the idea of beer.

I like it all. Just depends what I am in the mood for and how much I will be drinking.
I don't see why it has to be either/or for some people.
