Since other teams are keying on Johnny these days, with a 7 game road trip and the other team getting last change, I wonder if its worth moving Monahan on a different line so other teams can't just key on one line. Johnny doesn't seem to dodge checks as well as he did before (perhaps my interpretation is off) so I wonder if he's getting fatigued since in collage, his season probably would have been over by this many games.

I wouldn't split up the Bouma-Backlund-Jones line.
I'm iffy on splitting up Hudler / Gaudreau. Need some veteran presence in there with the young guy.
Monahan is the best center to put between Hudler/Gaudreau though Jooris has had success there too.
I'll toss it out there though... we might want to try Hudler-Monahan-Jooris and Gaudreau-Stajan-Raymond.
With (Glencross/Baertschi/Granlund/Wolf/Shore)-Colborne-Byron as the final line.

I noticed that too, he seemed off a little bit. I started wondering if he might benefit from sitting out a game, just to get some rest

I was wondering that too, not sure... hard to split up Bouma's line with the way he's producing, I wonder perhaps Jooris, but that leaves Monahan with some weak linemates. I'll be honest, I don't really have an answer so I left it kind of open ended, but I would like to make it harder to key in on our 3 best players all on 1 line.

I had to break up with my girlfriend during the second intermission. How did we do?

I would leave the lines as they are. It was one rough game. Switching up the lines isn't gonna make the team a better possession team. Switching up linemates, especially heading on a long road trip might do more harm than good.

Not an easy task.

they also lost 8 in a row, 96 is likely high anyway but 96 is pretty much guaranteed and likely a 2/3 machup

So its ok to say individuals skaters are terrible or the team in front, but it's not ok to apoint any blame at the keeper?

It's a little tough to dodge checks that are blatant blindsided hits from directly behind.

The one thing that hasn't been mentioned just yet tonight is that the Ducks are only behind the Flames for the number of 3rd period comebacks this year. So to see them really dominate in the 3rd should come as no surprise as we aren't the first team they have done this too. Still... it sucks as it feels like they beat us at our own game, but it's not like we just got throttled by the Sabres or Hurricanes or anything.
After I have had a chance to digest this loss, I've got a couple thoughts. First... perhaps now is our best time to be going out on a road trip. Get away from friends and family and just focus on hockey. Next... a couple people here have said this already but I just want to reiterate it... it's not a terrible thing if we miss the playoffs. Yes, we all hope that we will, but in the end it's all about the process of successfully completing a rebuild. That's why Treliving isn't mortgaging our future and acquiring players who might help us to win now. We want to see a sustained run in the playoffs ultimately... If it doesn't start this year then at least we are left with optimism that it might start sooner than later. Finally... it's we still have 20+ games to go. It's gut check time. The flames will learn a lot over this last quarter of the regular season... and its only going to help them moving forward.

who said that? my comment was directed at those directly blaming the goal tender...Anaheim had 4 goals before the Flames had 3 shots. That was a team loss if I have ever seen one. Some are acting as if the Flames played a good game and Hiller blew it. They allowed 38 shots for crying out loud!

Regardless, you have to start Ramo next game.
Good to see GlenX on the score sheet, hopefully he adds a 2 goal game next time out. (Hopefully while still on this team).

Didn't get a chance to see much last the first few mins, was picking up my son. Did Glencross get any kind of send off? And and.. And.. I thought we were up by 2?

The problem with this team is that it is still very young, especially the core guys. They can do some great things on the offensive end, but are also prone to making really stupid mistakes that lead to goals against.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out because as you get closer to the playoffs, it's usually the teams that make the fewest mistakes that have success.
The young kids are going to have learn quickly and adjust to playoff hockey real fast if the Flames hope to make it. They are in playoff mode right now. Every game is tight checking and every mistake ends up in the back of their net.
Yes they had some real bad bounces that led to goals, but it was stupid turnovers first, that led to the bounces, that led to the goals.

So that's what we've been doing to teams all year?
That doesn't feel good at all. We're jerks.

Throw it in the garbage.
Learn something, but throw it in the garbage.
The goat tonight was failure to cash in on chances to put the game away with the chances we had early. PP was bad. 4 on 1 was poorly executed. 2 on 1 was poorly executed.
Also didn't like Hillers glove tonight. Couldn't catch anything, couldn't hold anything.
Ramo gets the next start.
