Bad news for the Flames. Jets got a lot better right now. If we end up in a wild card battle, things won't be easy.

It's a pretty even deal i think, surprised a lot of people are saying buffalo got mugged... Maybe because they gave up quantity? Stafford is junk... The two prospects are ok but B/C level. Myers and the late 1st are the only assets Buffalo would wince at. Two decent players coming back though both with question marks... Deal makes a lot of sense for both.
Winnipeg needed to plug the hole left by Kane at wing with a body and they coveted Myers so they use Kane as leverage... Get a bunch of lotto tickets thrown in.
If anything I think Winnipeg could have done better if they focused on getting one blue chipper back for Kane.

I don't think they got much better if at all.
Bogosian is better than Myers right now.
Stafford might help them a little bit, but I don't think much of him as a player. I consider him of equal impact to somebody like Raymond.

Bogosian for Myers
Stafford
That's what they're getting for their team right now. They're hardly any better

Edmonton will have to respond in kind.

Bogosian >>>>> Myers too, so that should help us finish higher than the Jets.

Me too. This is really a big question mark going to Buffalo for several smaller ones to Winnipeg.
Kane is the best player in the deal, and if he returns healthy next year with an attitude of wanting to prove something to his former teammates, the deal would probably swing widely to the Sabres favour.

And with that, TracksuitGate comes to a close.

Am I the only one that thinks this is a terrible deal for the Jets?
Prospects are fine and dandy, but the Jets needed a equivalent player to Kane coming back. They are done re-building and need to start winning now.
They needed to make a Turgeon for LaFontaine deal, not this.
Buffalo wins this IMO.

I'm relieved as I'm not a fan of either Myers nor Kane and I'm happy they are now off the market.

To be fair, highest not meaning higher number and lowest pick meaning the highest number is pretty confusing.

I personally believe Kane is never going to live up to his billing so in time this deal will look even better for the Jets as they got a lot for him and Bogosian who IMO is going to be a waiver wire player in a few years.

I break down the trade as:
Kane for the 2015 1st (STL or NYI's) + Lemieux + Armia
Bogosian + Kasdorf for Myers + Stafford
Underlined is where I think the Sabres get fleeced.

Whenever a team obtains a handful of players from the worst team in the league, there's only so much it can help. I'm not too concerned.

It's hard to judge Myers being on a terrible team. He is a big D Man. I think he will be a lot better than he has been for the Jets.

Big trade. More interested to see if Buffalo follows up with Bogosian with a team like Detroit or with others who were interested before in myers.

I love calgary puck. Yesterday Kane was trash and not worth more than a 2nd.

I wouldn't want Calgary to take the risk, but I can see the appeal.

Exactly. Hes a 20-25g, 45-50p player.
This guy will be going into his 7th season by the time he plays hockey again. He is what he is at this point. This isnt a guy coming into his 3rd year that has figured it out and trending upward. What you see is what you are going to get with a Kane and 40g, 70+p guy he is NOT.

I think that would be a pipe dream from Winnipeg's end.
Kane comes with baggage. He got a late 1st and some decent prospects. That makes sense.
Now you include Bogosian and Myers. Myers appears to have untapped potential as well (though I really wouldn't bet on him reaching it). Kane seems more likely to bounce back.

I think Myers on a team's second pairing will be great. I think he's going to surprise some people.
