Yep, happy to have others noticed the same thing.
They've been a below .500 team since that great start. Said it at the time, but with a new coach it's easy to get off to a hot start when other teams are still unfamiliar with how you play and don't have video on you.
They were winning a lot of close games on Miller's back and now that regression has inevitably set in the canucks look really mediocre. Sure they have great efforts now and then but you can tell they aren't consistent enough to play that way every night.
Even the other night vs Winnipeg, then coming out flat tonight for no reason. We've seen this type of inconsistency before. Our very own Flames looked like this under Brent Sutter. A bubble team at best.
Desjardins is an ok coach but the canucks just aren't all that great period. Sedins aren't superstars anymore, forwards are awful after the top line, defense is mediocre with no true No. 1, and Miller is an average NHL starter.
They'll likely make the playoffs as a wildcard still, but not expecting any more than that. The Flames should finish ahead of the canucks if they can avoid another 8-game swoon like in December.
