They really need to get someone that is a comedian for a living, and not just someone incorporates comedy into their movies. What about Jerry Seinfeld, I think he'd be willing to it.
There was an interview not to long ago in which Seinfeld said he was interested in hosting the award show but something happened and apparently there is little to no chance of him hosting.
Likely the only thing I will remember about that show was Lady Gaga's medley.
I support the notion of Jack Black, but honestly, I'd just like to see what would happen if Gervais did it. Dude would burn the show down completely, I can't imagine him pulling punches.

Yeah but it's been done. The Golden Globes aren't as big of a stage as the Oscars but.. it's been done. It wouldn't be anything new or interesting, it would be Ricky Gervais being smug and arrogant, telling funny jokes, and probably carrying out a beer because "look beer, I'm drinking guys!".
Gervais did the Globes three years in a row and by the last one it had gone very stale.
No host would be fine too. Have someone coordinate a big opening piece and then just have people come out and do each award. The Globes went years without a host and it was better IMO.

Michael Keaton should have won and it shouldn't have been close.
I loved Keaton in Birdman but it's impossible to say Redmayne didn't deserve it for A Theory of Everything.
Haven't seen Whiplash yet either but loved seeing JK Simmons take home an Oscar. He's been a scene stealing character actor for a long time and awesome to see him get his due. Hope we see him as JJ Jameson in the newest Spidy flicks again!

Larry David would be pretty good.. Maybe... Or somebody with energy. Jamie Foxx?
Couple of thoughts on the show itself. I agree that NPH had a rough night. The Oscars are supposed to be fairly high brow in its delivery, and he brought it down a little too far. The 'magic box', underwear, and the comment after the speech about suicide showed he was relying entirely on planning, and not at all on his ability to improvise.
I would like to see Eddie Murphy. I was actually a little disappointed that when he presented he kept everything completely straight. Going with any more 'tv stars of the moment' for hosting duties would be a mistake. I could see them letting Jay Leno drift into the background and then emerge from the fog as host.
Lady Gaga did a great job, and I thought that I would never say that. Also, John Legend and Common gave a performance worthy of the Oscars. Theatrical, professional and emotional. Even Tegan and Sara with Lonely Island lifted up the overall production. I usually tune out all Oscar musical performances as horrible.
Pretty happy with the award winners. No real upset. Would like to see some more love for scifi and horror in the nomination process.
Prediction that Terrance Howard gets over his reputation of being difficult and hammers out an Oscar winning performance in the next couple of years. And now I'm off to touch the face of Adele Dazeem......

She's always been a top-notch singer. It just tended to get lost in the theatrics.
Yeah you basically just have to search youtube for "gaga acoustic" to figure this out pretty quickly. Most of her songs are pretty dumb, imo, but she can absolutely belt them out, particularly when she's not being forced through a cardio workout in the form of a dance routine at the same time.

Patrick Harris had so many jokes fall flat. One after the other.
I think John Travolta as a host would be amazing! That train wreck would be must see tv provided he kept the awkwardness flowing.
For train wreck, maybe it's time to give Kanye West a turn. "Sorry, uh, Beyoncé should have won this earlier for DreamGirlz, so, I'll just be taking this.."
Sad thread. Seems like getting uptight and aloof over the Oscars is a sign of missing out on a lot of other quality material. I liked birdman though.. Happy for them and Michael Keaton is a unique product
The two films that I'm looking forward to watching are Nightcrawler, with Jake Gyllenhaal, and Babadook with Essie Davis. I have a feeling that both of these performances might have been overlooked by the Academy for various reasons. I do wish genre pictures were better represented.

Two of the better movies of 2015 (best horror/best movie imo). Both are definitely worth checking out. Like you said though these type of genre movies are terribly misrepresented. Melodramas like Cali's beloved The Kids are Alright receive so much praise, when there are movies (and performances) that are far better every year.
