It was more of a comment on bad breaks happen to all teams. And no guarantee they score. But you are right.

They were two controversial plays that went against the Flames in the last minute of the game being analyzed / criticized in a Flames forum in a post game thread minutes after the game ended.

It was the time and place for Flames fans to be discussing / venting.

The smug "homer glasses" comment wasn't necessary.

To post something constructive, I felt like the Flames had a great start to the game. They generated some outstanding chances on their first PP, but after that, really struggled on the man-advantage.
All in all, it was another strong effort, just couldn't get it done unfortunately.

Our PP has been bad - and cold - lately.

0/4 Today
0/3 vs Islanders
1/5 vs Oilers
0/2 vs Kings
0/3 vs Oilers

So in the last five games, our only power play goal was against the Oilers. That's also a mere 5.8% on the PP over five games. It just hasn't looked good for a while. And it's not a lack of skill, because this team has skill. What they lack is any sign of a PP system. And we know there's a system in place because we see it during 6-on-5s. But our PPs just tend to look bad and produce nothing.
Yes, the PP has been atrocious of late. They are bottom half of the league now and not long ago they were in the top 10 and over 20%. Not sure what happened, but it needs work badly. The PK has been bad all year.

If we had Detroit's special teams, we'd easily be in a playoff spot right now. That's the only difference between the teams and it was the difference in the game tonight.

By the sounds of things, I was lucky to not have to watch this one. Must have been frustrating (you can tell by the snarkiness level in the PGT).

Grumpy CP tonight!
My take on the plays in question
- I thought the puck was barely off-side. I might be wrong. Close call and I don't think you can assume the puck goes in if it is on-side - goalie let up.
- On the Glencross play - such a gong show. Goalie's mask is off but he also clearly is being taken out of the play - both by Glencross and his own dman pinning Glencross. But in terms of blaming Glencross - I would keep in mind that he is one of the only Flames tha actually goes to the front of the net and fights for that space. Those guys are going to cross the line sometimes. You live with it. He was battling in that spot to try and get the game tied up - causing chaos down low - you want that late in the game.

To me, the turning point in the game were the missed chances on that first period PP. They had legit great chances. They go up 2-0 there, I don't see them losing the game.

Sounds weird to say a turning point was less than 10 minutes into the first, but to me, that was it.

It's too bad they couldn't convert on one of those PPs. Would have been huge, seemed like they gripped their sticks a bit, just enough to give the Wings a bit of momentum. I think they missed Hudler out there, especially on the PP.

The Score is reporting that Ramo avoided any significant injury in the collision with Diaz.

#Flames G Karri Ramo was signing autographs outside dressing room a few minutes ago, a good sign his injury isn't too serious.

#Flames G Jonas Hiller talked to Ramo after game. Doesn't seem too concerned: "I think it's nothing too bad."
Millions saying it's a neck injury:

Hearing now Karri Ramo has a neck problem after collision with Diaz. #Flames

Good: Backlund had a great return, Monahan was good in against really tough opposition, Stajan played well, Hiller was solid in relief, Wideman was good, Gio was good (one horrific giveaway). Unlike others I didn't mind Raymond, like I said before. Byron was ok, Bouma was good. Engelland had an ok game.

Meh: Johnny wasn't a force like usual. A couple good rushes. Missed the chemistry I think. Where are your priorities Jiri . Jones, Russell, Jooris, Bollig.

Bad: Glencross' play wasn't great. In addition to the last one, he had some bad defensive zone giveaways. Brodie didn't look himself (again). Healy was on the panel.

Did you not see the warning from another mod to talk about the game and knock off these pointless arguments?

Ya a PP goal tonight would have been huge. Detroit got a goal on the PP, however we also got a SHG so the special teams weren't all bad.

Like I said before, I felt like the team played fairly well overall, just couldn't capitalize on their chances.

I was very impressed with Backlund though... He has been out awhile, but if he plays at that level for the rest of the season, I think the Flames will be OK.

In fairness, if we just had Pavel Datsyuk...

Backlund is a huge addition to the PK. He and Byron are going to be dangerous
