Like I stated many times earlier and other people whined about during the second period. He was on of the few people being pushed around Physically. To be fair not one of the flames were down low in front of the net. There should have been at least one on each side plus a guy directly out front.

Edit. Gamecentre replay shows one on the opposite side and the other 2 were along the boards on the near side. Confirmation of what I said.

Everytime one of our players went to skate past Phaneuf he interfered with them.

Stajan with 7 hits apparently. I saw him play a lot more physically tonight, but that hit total seems a wee bit high.

I was meaning it as we shouldn't be in a position to be panicking and throwing the puck blindly out in front of the net in desperation mode after dominating 2/3 of the game. We have to bury our chances

As much as I hated that blind Byron pass he didn't play as badly as I thought Raymond did all game..could tell there was some rust.

That second was the most frustrating period to watch so far this season.

Gaudreau, Jooris and Granlund were our best players tonight. Gio wasn't too bad. Russell played well too.

Phaneuf got away with a lot tonight, lots of cheap unnecessary plays that had nothing to do with playing physical.

Man I would love to see Iginla knock him the eff out

I ain't even mad. Obviously Bernier showed up to play tonight. He was clearly inspired by his childhood sports hero, Nelson Mandela.

Spoiler!

Haven't noticed Stajan all night 0-2 when he is back to the line up. I think he is still off, way off

Frustrating game. We seem to be as cursed in the ACC as we are at the Honda Centre. I thought for sure we'd tie it up near the end. Oh well, can't fault the team when you run into a hot goalie like that. I'd like to see Johnny shoot more, but as awesome as he is he's still so raw. Can't wait to see him 2-3 years from now. Our bottom pairing is pretty brutal. Engelland could have easily had 2-3 holding penalties. Was hoping to see the classic Doin giveaways but I thought he played a steady game.

We better win against Buffalo. No excuse for losing that one.

Who had an off night, Brodie(passing was off), Mony(didn't look interested), Raymond (to be expected) and Glencross(again not too involved). Who played like crap, Engelland and Smid of course, those two are as slow as they come in the league.

That said, very winnable game we just ran into another hot goalie who made some good saves and a lot of shots were right in the crest it seemed. Maybe there was too much home cooking for the boys, next time I think coach needs to keep them in their routine as the effort was there but they just didn't seem to connect as well as they typically do. Maybe the two veterans coming back messed up the chemistry a bit?

Last thing, I thought T.O. got away with some holding, slashing and some picks,a few more penalties could have been called. Not going to blame it on the refs tho as we should have been able to win it without the man advantage.

He hasn't been bad, he hasn't been "not good", he's been Paul Byron...a player better than expected and filling a solid role on the team.
I'm a Paul Byron fan but he's been pretty invisible and not a factor lately. That doesn't take away all the good things he's done, just saying what's happening recently. In the thread about Raymond returning I thought it was good he was put on that line, hoping it could spark two plays in Granlund and Byron.

He had another poor game and a really silly decision late in the game, doesn't mean he's garbage, doesn't mean I don't like him, just means he needs to step it up big time as soon as possible.

Just got back from the game. Few things I noticed

- Brodies worst game I've seen so far this season
- Monohan didn't play well either
- Granlund was our best player tonight
- Decent 1st period, TERRIBLE 2nd period, great 3rd period
- Way to many turnovers
- Ice was terrible
- I hate the leafs

This was one of the only games this year that I had a real feeling they'd lose. Impressed how they played though.

My hunch had to do with all these players coming back from the lineup. This group had the pedestal to the mental recently (lol), but it's hard to bring these players back and be on the same page with the same intensity. They'll recover of course. Injuries suck! Thought the youth showed leadership tonight
