The inability of management to keep Iginla in line is eventually one of the many causes that poisoned the tree and led to the downfall of the team.

It's not just a coincidence that the Flames record with Giordano as captain is way above expectations even though he has a very poor supporting cast in terms of experience and skill compared to what Iginla had.

I don't agree with any of your thoughts on relieving of captain duty and not being able to "keep him in line".

However, I will say that management / ownership did make Iginla more important than the team at some point, and figured keeping Iggy happy and trying to win with Iggy was more important than just the Flames winning. And that absolutely poisoned the waters a bit and made the organization make some bad decisions over the years before they parted ways.

I"m watching the Kings/Anaheim game, and out of nowhere they the Kings tv guys start raving about Giordano and him being the odds on favourite to win the norris, even though it's early.

I've watched enough broadcasters from around the league to know the Kings broadcasters are fairly knowledgable and usually hit it right on the head. It's not Bob McKenzie territory, but it's still pretty good.
