#Flames LW Sven Baertschi: "If you make a pass and it's a goal, you get a certain swagger to your game. And that's what I need, I think."

I'm glad we got monahan also. That said it looks like lindholm is getting going also. 6 goals in his last 7. Think he is still 19.

I love this team, I was at the game tonight and usually a game against the coyotes sucks, lacks entertainment. Tonight was different, the flames were fun. They had fight and continued to battle. I was hoping Byron got a hattie, he almost did a couple of different times. That line was flying!! Sven played well, he made good passes, was smart with the puck. This was his best game so far this season. I hope he can show this sort of effort and effectiveness again next game. I don't want those who are injured to come back yet!!!

Anyone know where the mad scientist picture with Hartley is? Also, who got the fireman hat tonight? Byron?

Very entertaining game. So much effort and so much creativity from this team. And as someone mentioned - the back-checking!

The score and shots were not indicative of the paly IMO. Hiller was bad and Smith was really good - could just as easily have been 7-1 as 5-3.

Great to start the home-stand with a win.

Lindholm is a great player, but Monahan is perfect for the new Flames identity. Hard working, composed, all-around game, wholesome Canadian boy.

I was at the game tonight. Hiller had an off night, and I think Ramo deserves the next spot, but Hiller has stole us as few games and I'm happy we have 2 solid guys competing.

Sven is very gifted. He knows how to get open, and he has an incredible offensive instinct. I look forward to seeing him contribute to this team for years to come.

For a team missing 4 of its top players, I'm impressed.

Gio was lost in the shadows of Dion, Bouw, and Regehr. As soon as he saw he was the biggest vet he decided to step up in a monstrous way. Norris / Hart!

I'm just proud to be a Flames fan. It's a fun time for us. We need to embrace this identity and look forward to a future of success.

Was very interested to see how the team bounced back after the loss in Carolina, and I was very impressed with the bounce back.

As many have said, Sven's best game this year. Points or not, first game this year he's been very noticeable, creating and making plays.

Hiller was bad again tonight, Ramo should start the next game.

Excited they keep playing well and bouncing back.

At the beginning of the season I was on 'I hope we trade that bum David Jones' bandwagon but ever since he came back in the lineup, he's been playing well. Going to the net, standing in front getting hit and everything. He's been forechecking well and he's been using his big body as an advantage. I thought his line with Glencross and Monahan was the best line tonight. They seem to complement each other as Monahan is the scorer, Jones a banger and Glencross the defensive guy among the 3. I also like the energy on Baerschi-Jooris-Byron line. It seems like Jooris' work habit rubs off his linemates. This is the best I've seen Baerschi play this season and even before he was sent down to Abby last season.
As for Hiller, he was a bit shaky in the 1st and 2nd period. He seems to bounced back in the third but I was still a little uncomfortable with him. He was playing like the early season hopefully he wasn't really getting too comfortable being the starter in the past few games. I still think having a 1A and 1B goaltending tandem should be good for this team because of the competition. Happy for the win and I hope we sweep this home series.

They sure had their skating legs tonite. That's the difference between good and bad games for this team. When they skate, they're hard to handle.

I think Baertschi should be given a try with Monahan next game. He'll have likely earned some more PP time too.

Monahan will be scary good.

Coming into the season I figured Sean's best usage would be to start taking harder 2nd line Center duties while occasionally dipping into the 3rd line to get sheltered minutes. Sean would have made for a good I thought honestly he would wilt at first line duties after all the other centers go down to injury, boy was I wrong. He isn't just keeping afloat, he's blasting away my expectations. 7G, 5A whilst being thrown into the deep waters in terms of zone deployment and toughest competition. He's being matched up with the best lines and has looked fine. As a 20 year old.

If things stay the course and considering who's right around the corner down the pipeline, and how well we're doing now, simply just.. mindblowing

I still hope we trade him, just at the deadline, if he keeps scoring mayby we could squeeze out a 2nd rounder out of someone

I am most impressed that the team is having a good start to the season with 12 ( I'm including Byron ) are guys that have been either, been drafted or developed because of the flames development system on the roster.

Gio is just awesome. Not a better leader and Captain in the entire NHL.

Agreed. And I loved hearing from everyone that 'good teams don't win 2 in a row'. Such a good mantra to carry. Losses will happen, you can't stop that. How you respond is way more important than carrying a gigantic winning streak followed my losses. Gio is a huge part of what that locker room felt like coming home.

That's exactly what he needs......some swagger, some mojo. He took a big step in that direction tonight, hopefully he keeps it going.

Sven and Jones - good to see the contributions

Gio - wants Crosby money!

Centres - Monahan and everyone else. Team not missing Backs or Stajan and seems to produce more offense without them

Gaudreau - love the kid, but too many weak pass give aways along the boards. These are the kind that show his stature. He should be working on these.

Hiller - looks tired, distracted. Let Ramo have the next 3 starts, rebuild the inner competition.
