given the apparent circumstances of this whole altercation, if this still isn't funny I don't know what it is. hidden because of size.

NSFW!

from this article which states the police are looking into the matter:

I don't know what was said in the video or why it started, but it appears to be making the (viral) rounds on the web. I try and avoid watching videos like this because it gives unnecessary attention to things that should not be given any. Extremely uncomfortable to watch. Had to hear the sound of the slap though. That was sick.

Probably a safe better to assume that everyone involved in the altercation has an IQ under 100. Anyone with higher numbers would have walked away.

To be fair to 8-ball, he put up with, and turned the other cheek to, a lot of #### before he finally snapped. It sounds like she was mocking him in part because he was an immigrant with an accent.

What she did was reprehensible, I hope I am never in a situation like that guy. I think I'd probably do quite a bit more to avoid a physical altercation than he did, but who knows, everyone has a breaking point and she found that out the hard way.

I am not going to get into any of the sexism aspects, I don't think they are in any way relevant to this conversation. The guy was verbally and then physically abused to a point where he felt he needed to respond. It seemed unprovoked on his side, but I literally didn't understand half of what was being said in that video.

I hope for everyone's sake she ends up being charged after the police investigation is complete. This is just an ugly scenario that should never have happened if we lived in a world where people respected each other a bit more.

8 Ball's speech sounds like he has some disability or impairment.

The girl hits him and says: "you sound stupid".

I think that makes his retribution more satisfying for me.

Even in this state of affairs, the New York subway system has been significantly cleaned up in the last 20 years and used to be much worse.

That's the only reason I enjoyed this. She is the absolute worst kind of person. The run of the mill video of a man hitting deservedly woman, aside from the video below, doesn't really do it for me.

NSFW language.

He easily could have broken her neck here, so discretion is advised... but still. Kinda had it coming.

and charges have been laid...

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/...icle-1.2005151

from the NY Daily News article:

Quote:
Danay Howard, 21, is seen in a video posted to Youtube on Saturday being egged on by friends as she taunts Jorge Pena, 25, over his style sense on the uptown bound F train near W. 4th St. shortly before 5 a.m. Saturday morning, police said.

...

Howard and Pena were arrested at the W. 4th St. subway station around 5 a.m. along with Kevin Gil, 21, and Shanique Campbell, 20, who were apparently supporting Howard and had jumped into the melee after the slap, police said.

Pena, Gil, and Campbell were charged with misdemeanor assault and disorderly conduct, police said.

Howard was charged with felony assault for using a weapon - the shoe - in the attack.
lol at "the shoe"

Its nice to see that the woman who instigated the assault is receiving the harshest of the charges, albeit for using a shoe as a weapon.

There was a point in his fight with the white knight that it had settled, but then he threw him against the opposite wall, hard... then continued to throw punches. That didn't help his cause, if he had somehow evaded charges from the slap.

Eyes be soft and heels be pointy, then again anything at that point can be a weapon.

This is why I avoid fighting at all costs, the winner gets charged. Even if you are completely acting in self-defense you can still get charged especially if the loser was significantly outmatched. If someone's telling you how tough they are it's best just to agree and avoid a criminal record. If someone initiates violence sure defend, but if not it's best just to walk away.

They had to charge him with something, but its a relatively minor charge.

And yes if you fight in public there should be some kind of charge, in this day and age unless someone is trying to hurt you or rob you, there's really no reason, and way to often now we see public fights upping themselves to stabbings or really heinous beat downs.

The lady was a complete moron and deserves a felony charge, she also looks like the one that started it, and we saw how things spiraled out of control.

He'll get a fine, pay it and move on.

If she's found guilty of a felony that will follow her around for a loooong time even if she's only fined.

I'm ok with charges being placed against Pena. I believe charges are often placed as a procedural matter or as a CYA in case new evidence comes up, but they're not necessarily vigorously pursued. I think it's fair to send the message, at least in spirit, that this kind of behaviour won't be tolerated.

That said, assuming the story is as it appears, I sure hope the prosecution doesn't pursue Pena or force a case against him. Frankly, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sure he could have left the situation earlier, but you're talking about a minute or two of the exchange before he did try to leave.

Also, as an aside, for women who run their mouths so aggressively, the two who were 'scrapping' were absolutely useless. When that guy was trying to restrain the one in green, and she was 'fighting' back, she had a clear line to kick him in the jewels and she didn't. And her friend, rather than pulling on said guy, was instead trying to pull her friend out from underneath. Disappointing.
